Posted October 14, 200321 yr comment_53074 Hi all,I rebuilt my carbs 'cause I had the well known problem that there was a "rev limiter" at 5000 rpm. This problem was discussed in another thread up to 2 weeks ago.The engine now runs fine and the colour of the spark plugs is ideal, but when I have to stop for instance at a red light the engine starts to die (revs go down to 100 rpm) for a short time, than idle goes up to normal (700 rpm) again. I didn't have that effect before the carbs tuning. Any idea what is wrong and what I have to do?ThanksRolf Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8371-engine-slow-down/ Share on other sites
October 17, 200321 yr comment_53430 This is a tuff one. When the engine drops the RPM is it running roughly and then it smooths out to a 700 RPM Idle. is that right? What happens if you depress the throttle quickly and run the RPMs up ? What I am thinking is that it may be loading up like maby a float level is set too high. Just a thought. October 17, 200321 yr comment_53433 Sort of the opposite of my carbs, come to a stop and the revs go high (1100). I thought that was because of high float level? October 24, 200321 yr Author comment_54425 Thanks for your input. Compared to ZTherapy's proposal the float level was okay. I changed to an electric fuel pump and the problem is gone, don't know why.Rolf Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8371-engine-slow-down/#findComment-54425 Share on other sites
