List,

Wow! What a great event. I drove up on Tuesday and it was a terrific ride. Almost 600 miles. No car problems and I averaged 27 MPG. I mostly cruised at around 80mph but I came across a Subaru WRX that I had to show who was boss. The Subaru was fast until around 90mph but then the Z took off and he got a nice view of my tail lights as I blasted past him. I finally let off after seeing the Z's top end speed (135MPH)I arrived at my friend Lou's house in NH Tuesday evening for a dinner of Chili and Corona's. Lou is one of my 510 buddies. Keith (another 510 buddy ) was already there. We got up early on Wednesday and drove to the car show. I took one look at all the beautiful Z's in my cars class and put down the detailing bucket. I decided right then that my time would be better spent enjoying all of the great cars, and meeting all of the people. The folks in charge even let Lou and Keith display their 510's. The 510's managed to draw alot of attention. The Z cars were amazing. Mr Katayama (Mr. K) was there for the event. It was great to get to meet the Father of The Z car and he actually signed my car for me. (see my photos) After the car show it was off to Hooters for wings and Beer. A short night of sleep and Thursday was track day. The track day held 2 events. An autocross and track events. I had only signed up for the autocross and my times were slower than I would have liked (best of 108.3) I let a guy named Nate drive my car and he was able to get a 105.5 on his first run. Nate won the nationals in his class and his Miata did a 100.3 on the autocross course. He said he had never driven a Z before. He said he was sure he could have shaved a few more seconds off that time if he got more familial with the car. It's nice to know that the car is set up so well. For the track I managed to bum a ride around the track for a taste of what its like. (Thank Gary) Gary's car had a turbo and he was able to drive most of the track in 4th gear. A bit scary at times because the z had stock seats and you really have to hold on tight or you get thrown around. After the track event they had a track tour where anyone could drive on the track. Once it thinned out I got to run it a little harder and boy am I hooked. I can't wait to get my Z out on the track again. (My wife, the wonderful woman she is, bought me a day at Summit Point Raceway next month). After the final track tours they had all of the Z's drive onto the track and park on the main straight for a group picture. Then we all drove by Mr. K for a single file, drive by salute to him. Then it was off to the clam bake for a Lobster and Clams dinner that was DELICIOUS! Friday was a day to ourselves so we took a country drive up to Lake Sunape (sp?) Nice roads and great weather. The weather was nice all week 72-75 and sunny. Friday night was the closing banquet. Steve Millen was there along with Mr. K. They both gave a nice speech and the awards and door prizes were given out. I drove back on Saturday and the entire trip went without a speeding ticket or a break down. It was one of the best times I can remember and I will go to another Zvention again in the future. Next year will be in California so I might not be able to get to that one but the year after that is going to be in Upstate NY and I will be there. Hello Watkins Glen. I will have pictures soon to share with all of you. Taking that road trip was a moemory in itself. For anyone that has not taken a Z car on a road trip I suggest you plan one soon. You will "Enjoy the Ride"

Guess I should have sold something so I could have gone.....:stupid:

David, are you going to do a FATT at Summit or the Car Guys?

I used to race at Summit, so if you need some pointers or help with the car, send me a PM and if it's possible, I can come up and watch someone else have fun... like I did last weekend at the Marrs race....:( :tapemouth
