It could very well be the coil, I know that when my module from my distributor was on the way out the car ran like crap felt really unresponsive etc.. I thought it was the SU's making the car run crap I'd rev it and it just didn't seem like it wanted to rev.

When i replaced it wow what a difference the car came back to life I took her for a spin yesterday dunno if u read my last post "Help Z Playing Up?" i was having troulbe with it but sorted that out.

Then cause I hadn't been behind the wheel in so long I started going nuts must have given her a bit of stick and just didn't care because I have 3 spare engines :) And the new head will go on soon :).

What a blast it was to drive and drive hard too :).

Anyway off topic it could be a number of things I had multiple problems causing hell in my car all small things i can't help with testing how good your coil is go to a auto electrician they should be able to check it.

I know stock coils on early Z's play up when the car gets warm.

Anybody able to explain, the symptoms you mention for a coil on it's way out.... Does it run rough intermittently when warm or constantly?

I have been chasing a fault with mine where 20% of the time when cruising at 100 (K's not miles) I can feel a misfire in the engine. It also has a really bad lag when accelerating away from a standing start, it feels like the engine almost cuts out for a second or two. The car usually runs well when cold.

I figured that this was probably fuel, as I have replaced most of the electrical components (points, leads, rotor button, dizzy cap and plugs with no success, the coil is the only bit left.

I am getting the carbs done next week.

Anybody recognise this fault?
