Posted October 28, 200321 yr comment_54888 I'm gonna be one of those guys who switches from points and was looking for input on Pertronix. Is II better? Can original tach be used? I've got a 71 240, stock w/ header. Are there better options? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8597-pertronix-or-pertronixii/ Share on other sites
October 28, 200321 yr comment_54890 Unless something has changed on the Pertronix website in the last two months, I think you will find that they do not make a Pertronix II kit for the L6 Nissan engine.I'm completely happy with my regular Pertronix, though if they do end up offering the "II" model for an L6 I will consider purchasing it. October 28, 200321 yr comment_54935 There is a good review on the pertronix on this site. I have been using them for years and love them....Bambi is right they do not as yet offer the pertronix II for the Z, but the Pertronix I works great and you will not need a tach adapter...it just wires right up to the coil. If you replace the coil with a pertronix of a MSD Blaster you can remove the balast resistor from the circuit. Btw make sure and adjust the timing after installing.....the ignitor fires at the tail end of the dwell as opposed to the lead of the dwell with points. October 28, 200321 yr comment_54945 Petronix is a "solid state ignition" No points, uses magnets to "open and close" a switch. I've had mine going over a year now and works great! Highly recommend. October 28, 200321 yr comment_54954 Simplest, most stock looking electronic ignition conversion available. After you set it, forget it. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8597-pertronix-or-pertronixii/#findComment-54954 Share on other sites
