October 30, 200321 yr comment_55317 Hi Eric,I was in Japan a couple of months ago and supply had all but dried up with the specialists. You are right in that they WERE available with some specialists up until the early part of this year - but that was just stock that they were holding I believe.Companies such as Datsun Freeway are still showing them on their websites - but they are not in stock, so its a little misleading I think.I know what you mean about Japan having stocks of stuff that is NLA elsewhere. In many cases its limited amounts of deadstock that the specialists have got hold of, and Nissan have stopped outsourcing the items - so they will not usually be replaced.I'm off to Japan tomorrow morning - so I'll ask around.Alan T. October 31, 200321 yr comment_55356 I paid $90USD each from Nissan Motorsports for my set a few years back. I too have since heard that they are NLA.Haven't used them yet, can't bring myself to putting holes in my headlight buckets....Hey Alan, when you get a chance, could you collate some of these Japanese store websites into some kind of list?Even if I don't buy stuff from them (which is unlikely), I still need more drool material! Wonder how p*ssed he'll be when the first stone on the road flys up whacks a big divot out of one of them? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8624-headlight-covers-chrome/#findComment-55628 Share on other sites

November 3, 200321 yr comment_55635 Wow! That is about the price from Datsun Freeway - delivered - IF they are still available, as Alan indicated. My current research indicates they are. 55,000 yen + 2750 yen tax + shipping. At that price, a stone pit would indeed hurt!My research turned up other information about the covers. I just found and bought a new pair. The Datsun Freeway price seems to be the standard value or last price known. Several people had your idea, 2Many, and they are out there. Used sets are out there also and you will see them probably on ebay from time to time as you see 'D' hubcaps. I saw a used set on a Japanese Yahoo site go for $150 a month ago. I saw a used ZG set on ebay several months ago - "buy-it-now" $125. It lasted not 30 minutes. There is discussion amongst the collectors about what will happen when the dust settles and everyone who will have a surviving car will have the pieces thus making them unavailable - priceless. We might expect reproductions to become popular in the future. I have been toying with the idea of plastic casting radio face plates. Anyone interested? I'd be interested so long as the cost remained semi reasonable.
