By chance does nayone have any info on if this is correct the f54 with the e31 will give you 10.8 to 1 compression? I have hear alot about other combos but I have access to both the head and bottom end <f54> for a good price will this work ok , I have a e36 intake and round tops from my 240 to finish it up , any with expierence good or bad , and is it as easy as i seems? Look here for a nice little engine calculator download.

It will work fine, a simple straighforward bolt on. The only thing that you might want to do is to upgrade the valves to the larger 280 valves so the head will flow better to feed the larger displacement engine.

Compression ratio is going to depend on what has been done to the head, block and which pistons, head gasket, and a few other variables are chosen.

With larger valves bigger cam , nice extractors, 280zx ignition and some porting could be looking at 200HP.

That's what my current engine is rated at by the PO never confirmed this but it goes pretty hard.

Installing a bigger cam in my holidays which should give about 250HP once properly tuned and only diff is the bigger cam I'm using.

The last owner of the new head I'm putting said it put out 120RWKW so I hope for the same when i put it on my car.

Dunno about drivetrain losses.

It's an early E88 head also which is almost identical to the E31.

It's a 76 Degree cam.

What happened was my E88 has N42 valves, fair amount of porting a mild cam(not sure exact degree), it's been slapped onto a F54 block giving a fair amount of compression my guess is around 10:1.

It's a bit smokey I believe valve stem seals as it's a puff after sitting at the lights or being stopped.

I was gonna pull the head and rebuild it then install larger cam but I found a recently rebuild e88 with same specs just the bigger cam and it was cheaper than installing a new camshaft.

So that's what i'm going with, I will be keepign the current e88 for now and if the new e88 isn't as great as I thought I'll probably sell it with the n42 block it's on and put that money into my current e88 but im not sure yet.

I also have a P90 i've been saving for turbo charging but may or may not go with that if things don't work out.

Early E88's are almost identical to the E31's in Australia anyway.

I think the E88 had slightly bigger valves to start with and the compression was a little lower on the E88 but pretty much identical.:geek:
