Electric Defroster for the rear glass

Recommended Posts

Hello,everyone

I got a NOS rear glass with defroster through japanese auction.

My original one did not work, two electric terminals were deteriorated and almost broken off.

New one was installed recently, and today I have to drove in the rain,I had a oppotunity to test my defroster.

It did work,I am very happy with it but it was so slow to defrost.I was about to reglet my spending a lot of money for it.

Roughly 10 minutes after switch it on,gradualy began to defrost.

How do every one do with this defroster?

Thanks

kats

That's about right as far as the time is concerned, although I never actually timed mine.

It takes a long time for mine to work, and considering it's the first 240 I've ever had that had a working rear defroster, I am not going to complain.

Once it heats up, it will keep quite a bit of moisture off the glass and works pretty well.

Thank you 2ManyZs,

Yes I agree with you, once the glass heats up it keeps well mist out.But I am wondering,1969 Zs do not have a electrick defroster, right?

How do the cars defog? And why NISSAN did not aply it for DATSUN 240Z 1969 model?I saw the 2 road test 240Z in Oct 1969 with electrick defroster and show actual working in the cold morning.

OK so if I went to the effort of obtaining once of these for my Z I would want to keep it in great working order.

Isn't it incorrect cleaning that causes them not to work in the first place?

I've been considering one of these in my Z but I don't know if it's worth while.

Do you think anyone would attach the required filament to a blank window?

BTW kats I don't think you should regret your purchase looks like it's working ok considering. Bit weird having the stripes vertical instead of horizontal thought :)
