Sleeper s13 Posted November 3, 2003 Share #1 Posted November 3, 2003 I am new to the site but i fell in love with the Z several years ago and i am currently shopping for one. I am distressed to find out that they suffer so greatly from rust. I was wondering if anyone had developed fiberglass replacement pannels to solve this problem. it seems to me that it could at leaste handle, the seem, and drainige situation. I have read several post but no one it seems has speifically adressed the issue of replacing the metal with fiberglass. Anyone's feedback would be appreciated. 2ManyZs Posted November 3, 2003 Share #2 Posted November 3, 2003 Fiberglass fenders and hood and some of the other pieces are still available. If you are asking about fiberglass replacement panels for the chassis, it can't be done without compromising the integrity of the uni-body. If it were a body on frame such as the Roadsters are, you'd see plenty of replacement parts. The only thing that would be strong enough to replace the steel panels in the uni-body would be carbon fiber or some of the other space age composites, but they would be way to expensive to be a viable alternative.
