Right Turn Signal Not Working

If the right signal is not working but the left is would this be a fuse, a bulb, or a wire problem? It does not blink on the dash.

I remember seeing something that may have been s tiny bit of smoke from the left side of the steering column several weeks ago when I had used the turn signals. Maybe a wire has melted.

If this is the case are the signal switched the same from '70 on up at least to '73? I have a '70 car that this is not working in and a '73 parts car I can pull the signal switch from. On this note are the light/wiper combo switches the same also?

My first instinct would be a bulb. But with the smoke you mentioned, I don't know. That's not my area of specialty, though... so someone please chime in...

No, unfortunately. From memory, each year has a slightly different headlight switch and there are 2 different turn switches (70-71 and 72-73).

When my LEFT turn Signal stopped working, it was the turn signal switch causing it. I cleaned mine several time and the problem kept recurring, so I spent the bucks (big ones) to replace it with a new one.

There is a thread from last week discussing the different switches and replacement

Read THIS THIS THREAD for more information.

Does not blink mean no indicator light or it stays on solid? Solid usually means bad bulb.No indicator and a puff of smoke?Well ,The best answer I can give is back when I was a computer mainframe fixer the inside joke was this. They put "magic" smoke in the chipsets and the switches. If you let the magic smoke out----they don't work anymore!!LOL
