kings springs--anyone used them?

I know its more of a suspension topic but kings spring is auzzie based,so I thought Id ask here.

Anyone used them on their zed?

They come in low and super low but how does that sit on a car thats 28 years old and its springs have already sagged??

I used their low springs on my 200b SSS(a long time ago) and the car sat HIGHER after installing them ..due to the standard springs sagging.

also curious on their sping rates..how hard are they?

Anyone tried other oz brands..ie whiteline?

thanks for any info

Only just put kings springs in my zed as of last week. I didn't know there were super lows as well, mine are just lows. It sits with about 1" between the top of the tires and the wheel arches, which is about 1-1.5" lower than with the stock springs.

In the combo I have with the KYB shocks they're firm, but still fairly smooth, certainly not harsh at all.

Don't have the digi cam atm, but I'll try and get a pic for ya with the work camera.

Hmm, I've just bought some King Springs and my suspension shop told me they could only get them 35mm lower than standard and that there might be a reason why they don't come lower. This is good news as I will be discussing options to lower it another 30-40mm tomorrow.

Do you know how much lower the low and super low are supposed to make the car?

King Spring Super Low's are supposed to lower the car approx. 50-60mm from standard height, Low's are half that if I recall correctly, but they don't make superlows for every application, and they don't list every application they make them for, so you'll have to enquire whether they make them for the Z.

BTW, that info was taken from the king springs website: www.kingsprings.com

I changed over to kings about 12 months ago and the car goes great through the corners. Dropped around 35-40mm so the car sits pretty low.

I currently bottom out on rough roads when I have some weight in the car so going lower than this would be a bit of a pain.

It is probably worth asking them before you buy them what is the compression tension. I believe that they run at a round 180lbss so if you want to use it at the track and not worry about harsh ride, it might be worth asking them to make a higher tensioned spring say around 220lbss (You learn by your mistakes:ermm: ) I think the costs aren't that much greater.

If you want to convert to adjustable platform coil overs, they have a big range, three different lengths (the longest are the best) in increments of 25 inch/pounds.

With my engine and setup I use 275's front and rear.

If its around 180lbs for the kings springs, what are the standard spings pressure? Is it much harder with the kings springs then standard?

Someone else might have to chip in the compresion of the standard. I don't have my manual with me but I would hazard a guess of around 150lbss.

The 180-190lbss gives a firm ride which increase handling with much less bounce throught the corners at speed. I can testify after converting over to Kings that my lap times and heart rate dropped significantly.:classic:

Just out of curiousity do you use strut braces also? If so is it beneficial for the track? I'd imagine it would also help drop the heart rate slightly. But am curious to hear from someone who actually uses a strut brace on a track, not some boy racer who has a strut brace on their unmodified street car.

I' got King springs in my car that are supposed to be super lows from memory and I generally like the way the car handles and sits although it would have been nice to have the back a little lower. Has anybody else found that with king springs the back tends to sit a touch high. See in pix.
