Posted November 5, 200321 yr comment_55936 Whilst removing the RHS door panel to get at the broken( :tapemouth  ) door handle (my fault..arrrrggghhhh), I noticed that in the bottom of the cavity, a rubber roller was sitting there loose. It must go somewhere, but I don't fancy pulling the window completely out just to find out that I could have put it back without going to all that trouble. Any ideas of where it is soposed to go???? Can I get it back without removing the entire mechanisium? Cheers Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8731-found-window-roller/ Share on other sites
November 5, 200321 yr comment_55938 You have found a common problem with the door glass, some do not last to long the bracket cracks and the whole lot goes crashing down inside the door. Durring my last rebuild, I had one dead on the passenger side, could only get one for the drivers door so I had to get it modified to fit the passenger side. If you can identify no damage, a good clean and lube and re install.Position for installation is under the external weather strip about 8 inches from the front, you may have to pull the other one up to get a good reference it just clips down on the ledge and pushes lightly in against the glass and stops rattles.hope you understood thatcheersSteve :classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8731-found-window-roller/#findComment-55938 Share on other sites
November 5, 200321 yr Author comment_55940 Cheers Steve,I'll check it out tomorrow. I remember seeing a clip still on the weather strip (almost clamped on the door skin...maybe this has something to do with it. Digital camera time. What's the best thing to de-gunging the door lock mechanism? This is the reason the handle broke in the first place. I'm thinking of drowning it in CRC overnight then let it dry before pouring in some liquid lithium grease. The grease should get to most places in there. November 5, 200321 yr Author comment_55941 Forgot to add that the roller is in it's carrier. It looks almost new. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8731-found-window-roller/#findComment-55941 Share on other sites
November 5, 200321 yr comment_55942 This sounds promising, you may get away with just clipping it back on, worst case you have both pieces and one weld line to come. They normally crack and vibration does the rest, with you ending up with 2 pieces if you atre lucky. I have six doors and only three of these suckers.good luckcheersSteve :classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8731-found-window-roller/#findComment-55942 Share on other sites
