May 13, 200420 yr Author comment_80934 Well I finally have a date for when I will be in. I will be leaving the states on June 15th. It is a 14 hour flight from LA to Aussie so it will be a long one.I know so far I know I am going to Ayres Rock , probably the Zoo in Sydney and a few other places. I forget some of the places planned off hand because I saw the itinerary so fast but my sister might be getting us tickets for a rugby game as well.It is kind of cool because I will be out there for my 23rd birthday (June 19th) and it seems cool spending it in another country.Like I said before I want to get a chance to check out some skylines if I can hehe maybe I will talk someone random that I see with one into letting me check it out. I have to find out what the rest of the schedule is but I will be there for two weeks.SuDZ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8736-travel-to-australia/?&page=3#findComment-80934 Share on other sites
May 16, 200420 yr comment_81247 G'Day there SuDZ,Let's see now,You're visiting; the Uni at Wooloongong,Uluru (us oldies still think of it as Ayer's Rock),Taronga Park Zoo in Sydney, and a few other places. And you've only got two weeks !!!!! You'll be here just long enough to have a sample of what this great country has to offer. After the first week you'll be planning your NEXT visit.Mate, whatever you do, don't drive while you're here. For starters, the driver sits on the right side of the car. (You septics sit on the wrong side). Why do I suggest you don't drive ??????Because I'll be travelling the New South Wales coast road at that time. If I see a car heading towards me on OUR wrong side of the road I'll know it's you. Don't forget to wave.Go by coach to Wooloongong and enjoy the scenic coastline. Try for a seat on the left side going South, the right heading North.Seriously mate, I hope you enjoy your trip to the Land Down Under. I'm sure you'll want to come back.Rick. Sure you say not for me to drive cause you'll be there but just imagine how much more fun you can have with me coming at you, test out the handling on your Z as you swerve in and out again. Like a raodcourse, yet a bit more excitment since who knows which way I might go Seriously though, I know there is a ton of stuff to do while there and two weeks really crams it in but I can't wait. I am under one month to go now and feel like it is dragging by. I am hoping to get my car ready for the body shop while I am out there though, that way if I can do it I might be able to drive my Z when I get back to the states. How is that for a welcome home gift to myself? May 19, 200420 yr comment_81763 Hey there SudZ, You know mate, there are more and more of you Septic Tanks visiting the Land of Aus every year. (I reckon dear old Mikey liked Melbourne so much he's been telling all his friends). An item on the local T.V. news tonight said that 20 members of our local Army Reserve unit is going to Hawaii on exchange with 20 American servicemen. Our blokes will train over there while your blokes will experience training in Australias largest Military training area, Shoalwater Bay, situated about 50 kms north of where I live. As I've said elsewhere, I've just returned from three months of touring the Southern States. Everywhere I went I heard people talking with that weird, strange accent. Bloody Yanks were EVERYWHERE. Up here in Boston you don't get that because it is a meaner, colder demeaner in people. You won't hear that odd accent cause nobody will talk to you and if your lost and ask directions people will walk by without ever looking you in the eye. The only way to get peoples attention is start the conversation with an attitude and go from there. Fun place hehe.SuDZ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8736-travel-to-australia/?&page=3#findComment-81820 Share on other sites

I doubt he knows that in the US yankees only truly exist in the northern US states (including Florida) and are the ones that have the weird accents. May 20, 200420 yr comment_81944 Nah, Mike, you're dead wrong there mate. I've done a little bit of reading on the War Between the States and realise that there's a big difference between a Yankee and a Johnny Reb. However, since all that happened in the dim, dark, distant past, as far as I'm concerned, EVERYONE who comes from the USofA is a Septic Tank. Now, I've met a heck of a lot of you septics, (from the 173rd Airborne Brigade 1965-66) and can honestly say that I only met ONE that I didn't like. :devious: :devious: Rick.
