Bugger!

Ivan

Recommended Posts

One of those days I think, I had arranged time off work to take my car to the suspension shop.

I had just called the tow truck guy and he was on his way when I went to start my car and the battery was flat, it goes flat over a couple of days (this is another problem I was going to look at later).

No problems I'll just hook up my battery charger I have always used in this senario. It made an ungodly noise, showed no amps being used and all my relays started clicking.

After fixing a couple of fuses, 1/2 my lights don't work and more importantly the fuel pump doesn't work, bugger! No suspension shop for me today :-(

And all this 1 week before it gets certified ARHHH!

Ivan,

It almost sounds like your battery took a dump. As they go bad they won't hold a charge anymore. I'm not sure if you have this service available over there but here in the U.S. you can take your battery to an automotive supply store and they will test your battery no charge. And if you do replace the battery some good insurance is to change the voltage regulator especially if it's still the original.

Thanks Ed but I'm pretty sure I've hooked the battery charger the wrong way around, no more alarm or ECU.

Oh well, I was going to upgrade my ECU eventually anyway so I might as well do it now I suppose, no sense in buying a standard ecu.

Means I can run more boost now I guess

bad luck Ivan!

reminds me of the umpteeenth time I set the cam timing up - only this time I forgot to take that hardwood timing chain wedge out!!

went to start it, just went "CLACK" and the front of the rocker cover erupted! chain didnt break, just pushed its way thru the cover! and 3 bent valves!!!

so I pushed it back in the shed and went and had a bourbon or two!

Hard like Ivan,

I did a similar thing with my mini cooper when in Auckland years ago. Took the battery out of the car and charged it. Put it back in and hooked it up wrong. Woof when the diodes in the generator...smoked it good.

I hope it's just the ECU.
