I am going to look at another car tomorrow a 78z ,, I talked to the owner today and he mentioned the car makes a Whining sound while it's in gear ....,,I asked him if he could tell where the noise is comming from but he wasn't sure... the car has a manual trans... anybody have any thoughts ? something minor ? something to worry about? thanks for any input...

The first thing I thought of when you said whining noise was a bad diff.

Like with anything your gonna have to look around and try to find where it's actually coming from to be sure. Let us know and we will help.

Maybe low tranny lube.

yeah thats where I think I;d be targeting first...the trans. My old 78 had quite a whine in the trans....

thanks guys for checking in on thoughts .. I'll drive it today and have a good listen.. and hoping for mostly RUST free... thanks again ..
