I am just wondering what anyone might know about who has the fastest 240Z in the 1/4? I have seen some fast ones, but I am looking for who might know who has gone the quickest. Any info would be nice, thanks.

I'd be interested to see top speed posted also.

I did 125+mph with 5 psi compression on cyl 6 and 35 on cyl 3 w/ 4:11 gears and a 4 speed so I figure some of you 5 speed non-broken engine guys have really pushed it...

as for 1/4 mile, probably one of these Zs with a V8 and a bunch of other american driveline components swapped in and modified, but at that point I wouldn't really call it a 240Z anymore.

I suppose the answer would depend on what you would consider to still be a 240Z.

That's the first thing that came to mind when I read the original post. And the first 240Z that came to mind is the one at www.ratsun.com... but it's just like what Inf said...502 Chevy, etc...I imagine there's probably faster ones, though.

At last years National Convention in the Drag Race competition, there was a 280Z that had a Z32 twin turbo w/ nitrous that ran a 10.4 sec 1/4 @ 136 mph. Not a 240 but still pretty good for an early-body Z!

Jim Sykes from Prunedale, CA has a 71 240z, he has a supercharged 347 stroker in his car along with a G force T5 and a solid rear end (ford 9 inch)

he dynoed at 755hp, his engine block weighs a mere 92 lbs!!!! (alum SVO block) Canfield ported cyl heads, EFI GT40 intake (extrude honed), MSD IGN system, Roller everything and an alum driveshaft.

He managed a 9.8 1/4 mile at 137mph and ran street legal slicks.

THe hood, front fenders, doors and even dash are fiberglass, the hood and front fenders are all on the same bracket and open forward like a corvette...

pretty neat car. It looks stock too....until he pops the hood or until you see the roll cage.

I dread to think what his top end would be like.

I guess I should mention a trip to the Bonneville salt flats eh?

one is scottiegnz's 240Z.

10.39 @ 136.9 in the 1/4 gn powered 240Z

second all motor 240Z with su's is norms

12.89 @ 107 if i remember correctly, the 12 second time is correct though.

there is also though it is not a 240Z but a Z31 Turbo that runs 7's:cross-eye and still maintains the stock interior

Hey Gav, can you please pm me if you have the rest of that article.

I've seen a few all out drag cars in the one digits from Japan. One of them was with an original (if you can call it that) N/A straight six donk. I'll see if I can find the dvd.

Thanks for all of the replys. I see there is some difference in opinion of which Z's would qualify for the fastest title. My 240z is a SBC convertion and no longer has the stock style rearend, but I still consider car a Z. I am striving to have the title of fastest street legal Z car and I feel I am well on the way.
