xenon or other high performance tail light

Does anyone use/or have you found, but not used, any halogen or xenon or otherwise high output, near stock wattage replacement bulbs for the tail lights, reverse lights, and marker lights for the Z?

My manual lists the stock wattage at 7W/23W for the tail lights, the side markers are 7.5W.

Would like something brighter, without going to a high output LED, for two reasons: don't want to overload the system with high wattage bulbs, and don't want the directional of the LED.

I remember seeing a clip on HorsePower TV about LED lights. They were putting them in a Barracuda project car. They were direct plug in replacements for the stock bulbs, but had a complete LED panel shaped like the tail light. The stock lense went on like normal. Looks real trick.

LEDs take less wattage to make a brighter light. They also come on quicker. IMO, I think that is the best way to go.

I looked around for replacements for my parker lights for my 260z for awhile with no luck down here in melb aus..

In the end I just ended up removing the lights all together and just having my headlights/foglights.. i reckon it looks nice as even with bright bulbs the plastic of the parker light cover makes em look sorta dim..

There are both of these for LEDs. The reviews I've read have been sort of mixed--they're bright, but very unidirectional. I downloaded a video from LEDtronics, that looks pretty good, so perhaps I'll try those. They are pretty expensive--$40.00 to $80.00 depending on color. Admittedly, they'll almost never burn out, so I'm saving in the very long run, but it's still a little bit of a pill to swallow at the get go.

Does anyone know if the Z's turn relay is the old thermal type (where resistance matters, I believe), or the new electronic type? It'll probably make a difference with the LEDs.

For the Old Z's the flasher is thermo. :devious:

If you convert the whole system to L.E.D. you'll want to swap the thermal for an electronic blinker because of the lack of proper resistance in the now new system.

And there is also plenty of zenon headlights on e-bay
