CaptnKrunch Posted November 10, 2003 Share #1 Posted November 10, 2003 Hi all... bought this 78 over the weekend .. was told it was making a whining noise but I never did hear anything .. it's been a long time since I drove a z .. 20 years or so ... it's pretty much rust free ,, not a fan of the chrome/stainless steel trim that someone put on the car but for the most part it's in OK shape ,,, the steering seems a little flat ...ball joints may need replacing... bringing my baby home this Sunday ... thanks for previous advice.... mdbrandy Posted November 10, 2003 Share #4 Posted November 10, 2003 Very nice! At least they won't call you a root beer float! Chocolate Sunday maybe? I hadn't gotten to drive a Z for any distance since 1989 when I sold my college 280Z. Feels good to get behind the Z wheel again! In a few years, I can compare what the 240 feels like compared to the 280.Enjoy.
DatsunZGuy Posted November 10, 2003 Share #5 Posted November 10, 2003 Black always looks good on a Z...even more so when the body is straight like this one seems to be.IMHO...I think the silver rocker panel strip and wheels compliment each other very well. I could be wrong, but I think that rocker panel moulding was a dealer installed option back then.
CaptnKrunch Posted November 10, 2003 Author Share #6 Posted November 10, 2003 thanks guys... trim wise I'll have to do some research and find more about dealer options... the wheels have a gold cast except the rim area... and there is gold pinstriping that goes ok with the wheel tone... now I have to find a place to store my boat so I have room for this at home ... thanks again.... Marty Rogan Posted November 10, 2003 Share #7 Posted November 10, 2003 Hi Captn,Welcome aboard! The looks pretty good from the pics. Did you buy it locally? How many miles on her? Was that the original color or a re-paint? If that is original black fromthe factory, you have a Black Pearl Edition there, which is collectable. If you haven't already, you ought to join the Windy City Z Club: http://www.windycityzclub.com/default.aspIt's a great group of people.MartyArl. mdbrandy Posted November 10, 2003 Share #9 Posted November 10, 2003 You know, I haven't been paying enough attention - that makes three of us here in IL; are there any others? I'm the only down-stater, though. Got Rick Hanson down in St. Louis. I wish there was a z-club down here. There is a sports-car club that now maybe I'll join, since I have a running car! Marty Rogan Posted November 10, 2003 Share #10 Posted November 10, 2003 Mark,There are actually quite a number of us Z nuts in Illinois. The WCZC June show had a little over 50 cars show up! That was the largest show we have had. Hey, now that you have a running Z, a couple of hours cruise north for some of these events would be fun. I usually drive down to Indianapolis each year for their show, and that about twice as far. There are at least 3 other guys that I know from around here that frequent this site also. Next summer maybe, I'll cruise down your way for a visit. I would love to see haow you are doing with #215. Of course you are welcome to drop by my place if you are ever in the NW Suburbs.Marty

I'll have to pay attention to dates on the web site. I looked it over a few months ago. If you make your way downstate, I'd love to meet you!
