Damn that heater core

So.......... How many of you have tore out the heater core in a 240Z, ( aprox. 3 hours ) Only to find out it was the top hose connection nearest the firewall? ( spraying water into the heater core area, making it look like the core was bad)

Of course I'm an idiot for not checking all the hoses first, rather than tearing them off in a fit of rage:stupid:

so it turned out to be a loose connection on the hose.

And while coming out from under the dash, I cracked my head on the lower glovebox support:dead:

But now you can go through the unit, check its flow, clean it, replace the foam rubber on all the flaps of the housing, maybe replace the hoses and the valve. It's what you meant to do all along, wasn't it? See, you're not as moronic as you thought. Victor.

Unfortunatly, my daily plans and my time to work on the car clash more than i'd like.

the heater core and the assembly were in terriffic shape for being 33 years old, the valve looked almost new, and the clamps had been replaced w/ new style clamps.

And the whole time, I'm upside down. but here's the good news, the p.o. never replaced the screws holding the assembly together, So all I had to do was remove the hoses, the blower assembly, 2 cables, and three hose clamps.

NOT the Dash or the heater controls, boy was I relieved. I turned an 8 hour hellasious job into a 3 hour somewhat easy job.
