Can anyone tell me where to buy the valve cover breather shown in this picture? It looks like a mini k&n filter on the top of the valve cover.

I don't know who stocks them, but K&N does make them.

There are about a dozen different kinds. Price ranged between $15 and $20.

But what does it actually do?

The fitting on the valve cover is normally routed by a hose to the intake air cleaner so that blow-by air from the engine has a place to go. When using *some* aftermarket air cleaners (which may not have the provision for the hose), you can use the filter which will trapp any oil mist blowing out of that valve cover fitting to keep it from being puked all over your nice clean engine compartment.

It eliminates the unsightly hose that runs to your stock S.U.s.

And if you replace them (stock carbs) w/ triple webbers or something like that, It allows the cover to breathe w/o the use of a hose going into a filter plate that no longer exists.
