240ZX Posted November 13, 2003 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2003 This is for all the Ozzy guys!Australian V8 Supercar Series......WOW, what a great race series!!! Does Marcus Ambrose and his team rock with that blue oval car or what??? This has got to be one of my favorite race series to watch. When I was just a teenager (over 30+ yrs. ago) I owned a 65 Mustang V8, so listening to these Supercars brings back some great memories of Ford V8 power. Its interesting to see a cool looking Ford with the Falcon name. Here in the states, Falcons were just these funny little Econo cars that have long disappeared. The Ozzy Falcons look pretty cool, kind of a Mustang type front end stuck on a sedan. What engines come in them stock? Anyway, you Australians have a killer race series going on down there. I think you're all have way too much fun!P.S. Gav, it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that this race series is watched religiously by you. Am I right??? Bambikiller240 Posted November 13, 2003 Share #2 Posted November 13, 2003 I watch it religously here in the States. Every Weds on Speed Channel. I don't have a real favorite driver, but it sure is an exciting series.
240ZX Posted November 13, 2003 Author Share #3 Posted November 13, 2003 Hay Carl,I would have thought one of the Ozzy guys would have been all over this post but maybe it's just the time difference. Wouldn't it be a hoot to drive one of those babies? 600 HP worth of fun!!!
ZmeFly Posted November 13, 2003 Share #4 Posted November 13, 2003 The Classic Adelaide (I think I cant remember I was to interested in all the fast rides)They raced a 3 or 4 day course around au starting and returning to Adelaide. It was fantastic, some really great cars, and some great racing and driving. You have to love it when you hear the navigator go OOOOOOH $^!#!!!!!!!!! Maybe they're just bored with having that much real racing action to watch.Meanwhile, we in the States have to be content with Snorecar, Chumpcars (I used to love the series), and IRL (Indy Rehab Series). Z Kid Posted November 13, 2003 Share #6 Posted November 13, 2003 Over here the V8's are pretty huge, they are awesome racing, but you guys dont get the real good racing we have as support categories I dont think. There are V8 brUTES (Big V8 powered utes) which slide and bounce off each other like nothing on earth, right down to ozzie cars, which are half scale motor bike engined supercar bodied things, which go like a shower of $^!#. Speaking of the classic adelaide, I just got the flyer for it, and it looks like there are going to be half a dozen Z's or so (even a 280, which I suspect will be a 240 with 280 vin so the guy can use a big motor maybe?). I will try and make it up to take pictures, and hopefully the Z's will be able to keep the porsche driving bastards honest:finger: . Luckily we dont get subjected to too much US racing I will try and make it to the classic adelaide rally for some pictures, I even drove half a stage coming back from a friends house last night looking for a big bump coming into a tight corner, there are a few spots with potential . Z Kid Posted November 13, 2003 Share #7 Posted November 13, 2003 Local Z rally guru with his now retired blue cow Z car at the last classic adelaide I think. Hopefully this year, he will miss all the embankments etc and do a bit better.

MicksZ Posted November 13, 2003 Share #10 Posted November 13, 2003 Good to hear the American's like our series! I thought you guys mighten know anything outside of Winston Cup! (J/K) The V8's here are truly awesome - I am a Craig Lowndes Fan myself having followed him from HRT to FPV. Murphy will win the chamionship i think with Eastern Creek being a Holden curcuit (and i think Skaife will steal a lot of points off Ambrose). But, no one likes a whinger and Murphy does a lot of that... my opinion... Anyways, good to hear about the interest - my uncle works for Team Valvoline Cummins (GRM) on Tander's car and I hear they have just got an ex-Jordan F1 shock engineer on the team, so we must have a series that is doin ok! Cheers lads.

Ben Posted November 14, 2003 Share #12 Posted November 14, 2003 The 2003 Classic Adelaide is less than a week away (it starts next Wednesday). I'll be spending many hours abusing my camera & cheering on the drivers this year!FYI, the domestic Falcon is powered by a 182 kW 4.0L 6-cylinder, a 240kW 4.0L 6-cylinder turbo, or one of several V8's with outputs of either 220 or 260kW.See http://www.ford.com.au for more info.
