Does the window frame adjust?

How is the chrome window frame attached to the door On the passenger side of my car, the top, front of the frame (where it bends from veritcal to horizonal) is too close to the roof gutter and the weather strip pulls out when closing it. I can shut the door and then push the top corner of the window frame in, and it fits great. its just about 1/8 too high at the front edge. The rest of the door gaping looks ok, so I don't think the door is out ot whack. It appears that the chrome frame may be held on by several bolts/screws in the front and back. Can it be adjusted?I would just take them out to see, except I've done things like that too many times and caused myself untold hours of labor fishing out lost nuts, etc.

Never had reason to mess with the frames, but was kind of wondering that myself. You might try the search function and look under "window frame" or some such. Victor.

I did try the search first. Nothing that I could find of any relivance.

They adjust a tiny bit. I have a similar problem.

Look at the end of your door and you will see 2 bolts above the latch mechanism. You can take them or just one and see what movement you get which isnt much. Take out the 2 on the other end and you can take it completly out, kinda hard to get back in though..

If your gutsy you might try and drill a couple more holes to relocate the channel but watch the window alignment.

On the rear side of the window/door there are four screws that hold the window channel in place, from the top, there is one behind the door pannel in the top corner, next there are two on the inside of the doorjam about 2 inches apart above the latch mechanism and then there is one on the bottom at the doorjam below the latch mechanism. Loosen up all four and you might be able to move it about 1/8 of an inch. You might also want to double check that your door is alligned properly. It might be a hinge problem. And last make sure your frame is straight.

After popping the door panel off, I see that there are in fact other fasteners holding the frame in place. By elongating the 3 holes on the latch side of the door ( about 1/8") and trimming a like amount off of the outer flange of the frame, I was able to get the 1/8" that I needed. The stock washers still covered the elongated holes on the latch side of the door as well as inside. The door gap is uniform all around and the door is solid, so I don't know why the frame didn't fit to begin with, although it does appear that perhaps the gutter and chrome trim on the top may sag in this area. I was afraid to screw with the top becasue I have a new paint job and didn't want damage it by attempting to bend the gutter seam. Thanks for all of the replies, Ken

Speaking of the window frame on the door. How many other fellow Z owners are missing the little end caps that go on the end of that door window frame.

The 72 240 I have has one side with the metal rounded off and the other side has a black end cap.

The 77 280 has black end caps on both windows.

I 've never really even noticed these things until some bozo said "Uh did ya know yer missin' a part off yer winder frame"

Oh well this missing part doesn't slow my red Z down a bit!
