Interested in power steering?

Anyone secretly want to defy "classic-ism" and step into the comfort of the modern decade? I thought why spend $30k on a car without a few comforts.

I have been in touch with a steering business in QLD and they will produce a power steering setup for the Z, only catch is I am in Melbourne and cant leave my car with them.

They usually charge approx $600 for a kit or $1100 installed. If anyone in Queensland is interested in power steering for their Z it would be great as it would a kit to be developed and I could have one sent down.

From what I have heard, No, but I dont claim to be overly knowledgable in steering systems. Likewise I have been told that incorrect dimensioning/positioning of a new steering rack will totally stuff up the steering geometry of the car so it doesnt seem like too much of a bad idea to let a pro handle it.

From what I have been able to gather on the subject (fairly limited and comes from a failed attempt to build an offroad buggy with suspension :)) the trick with power steering is keeping the steering in line with the suspension movement, that is that you have the rack mounted in line with the lower suspension arm, this should eliminate bumpseer and you should be fine. I would be looking at the Rack like cuong used, maybe 240Z tierods, and the powersteering pump off any l series motor that had it and you should be in business, not much can go too wrong.

Cheers Chris
