I thought the Holley would make things simpler....LOL

I agree that the comp. is High....I know what I have done to the head....I dont know what the previous owner has done to the bottom...he is dead.

The valve timing will be done once more this week (not by choice)

My 9 year old was holding the light and knocked a screw down into the timing cover.

It does not get any better than this.

I can only laugh at this point. HA HA

What is the stock compression for an L28? I know on a early L24 with the High Comp E-31 head it is 180 from the factory. Have you done anything to the head to explain the high compression? I'd think you'd have to mill the head MASSIVELY to raise the compression to the range you stated. Unless someone put High Comp Pistons in the block.

I assume that your child is still alive. (?) Well hopefully anyway.

At least you now have an excuse to double check everything. :D

MY 2 bob's worth! [Aussie Slang].

That compression is frighteningly high.

I can only speculate that may be the source of all your problems.

With such high compression I would think then you would need to run 130 octane [AVGAS].

Can't help you with any thoughts on the Holley's and can understand your fustration. You wouldn't still have the SU's kicking around?

Just a thought as you would be eliminating a possible trouble source [Holleys], get the engine running and then work out why the carbs are giving you such a hard time, who knows you might just be happy with SU's?
