Posted November 17, 200321 yr comment_57371 Hello Everyone!I am looking for an R200 from the 88-89 300ZXT. I think I have found one at a salvage yard 2 hours away. He says he has one anyway. My question is:How can I be certain this is an LSD short of opening it up? Is there any markings etc that would identify it? And is 250 a good price for such an item? November 18, 200321 yr comment_57420 The R200 LSD your seeking is on the 4/87 - 89 300ZX Turbo only. It has a finned rear cover with both horizontal and verticla fins.If you look through the LSD meaning the axle shafts are off of it you will be able to see straight through it.250 is a very good price for this unit. November 18, 200321 yr comment_57425 That is, unless you have an 88-89 Z31 with a stuffed diff & need to replace it!In which case, you can identify the correct unit by inspecting the 1/2 shaft splines (diff-end). There will be 2-sets of splines (the inner set will have a smaller diameter, in order to engage the VLSD unit). November 22, 200321 yr comment_57964 take a 12mm or 14 (depending which cover you get) socket and unbolt the rear cover. If you see this: It's a limited slip Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8921-88-89-r200-lsd/#findComment-57964 Share on other sites
