Line X question

In case you don't know. Line X is a similar product to Rhino Lining.

A spray on liner used for the beds of pick-up trucks.

I went to a body shop today to talk to the guys there about my car. We got on the subject of spraying Line X to the undercarrage and wheel wells. Now my plan was to strip to bare metal and protect it with POR-15. Then cover it with Line X.

The body shop guy told me that the Line X can be sprayed directly to bare metal. No primer. And he said that it's guaranteed not to rust. The Line X is non porous and will seal the metal.

If this is true then I could save a pretty penny and a lot of time.

What do you guys think?

Well..............the stuff may be just what the body shop guy says it is and all, assuming you can trust the body shop guys work. That's not to say he could also be extremely good. All I'm trying to say is....If you won't be able to sleep well at night knowing that you didn't apply the primer and POR-15, then go ahead and do the primer and POR-15. What's that old saying......"A ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Just some food for thought!!

DOes LINE X have a website to confirm what the guy told you. Does the manufacturer offer a warrenty on the stuff?

I have a PU that I shopped around for a spray in bed liner for. Rhino came out to be the best out there, it's sprayed on thicker for one which in the bed of a truck this matters.

Any how, as far as what was said...these spray in bed liners do prevent rust...as long as they remain intact! Once a tear, rip, chunk or what ever has been taken out of it this exposes the underlying metal to the elements. Being that it is designed to be abused in the bed of a truck this stuff is all pretty tough, however it's not bullet proof and can be damaged. Just think of the under side of your car when you kick up rocks and other items at a highway speed...what if you hit a board in the road, etc. On the bright side this material can be patched easily! I have a spot on my tailgate where the bolt heads are that hold the handle on that has been scrapped off through normal usage and the Rhino place will fix it for me...no problem.
