Posted November 23, 200321 yr comment_58049 Hi everybody, I've got a 260 that is going to keep me clicking that 'Search' button on these forums for the next few months, and figured I'd at least say Hi and post a pic of it. this is a picture before the hubs flew off on the interstate As of now, the biggest problem with it is the electrical wiring for the console, none of the dash gauges work at all, nor turn signals. That's why it's sitting there getting so darn dirty(it's actually covered in a foot and a half of snow now.) Anyways, I really appreciate all the knoweldge contributed by people here, and if I can I'll do the same! November 23, 200321 yr comment_58050 Hidee Ho good neighbor. Looks like a pretty nice Z. Can't see any evidence of body problems. Get it out of the snow ASAP. The melting stuff will seep into all kinds of nooks and crannies and wreak havoc on the sheet metal. The electrical stuff is pretty common. Check your grounds first. There might be some corrosion or rust at the terminal ends causing bad connections. Seeing as how you have such wide spread problems, that is what I would suspect--short of blown fuses anyway. November 23, 200321 yr Author comment_58056 nah, there were 4 blown out fuses when I first got it, but I've taken care of all of that. There are alot of wires all over the inside that come from some place, and are cut, and taped off before the fuse box. I really don't understand why the previous guy would do something like that. I'll take the advice on the snow though, it makes sense. Only problem with that is the fact that the carbs need a MAJOR tuning, and it may be a task in itself moving it a few feet to the driveway to cover. as far as body issues, there's a dent behind the rear wheel well on the driver's side where somebody threw their door open while I was inside a shop, and left before I got out. Always a great feeling, right? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8998-my-260-wanted-to-say-hi/#findComment-58056 Share on other sites
November 23, 200321 yr comment_58057 Sounds like you have a fun task in front of you. Guess you will need to locate a good copy of the wiring diagram for your car and start reconnecting. The search function will be helpful as you already know. Take you time, and do it right. Nothing will be worse than getting all the connections right just to have it catch fire.Dents are really no problem, at least the ones you are describing. The metal is thin and easily dented, and easily fixed with paintless dent removal. Just keep your eye out for rust developing in the damaged areas. You will find that the body rot monster is rather unforgiving on these cars. November 23, 200321 yr comment_58089 Hey your car looks really good. But you should think about getting new rims for it Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8998-my-260-wanted-to-say-hi/#findComment-58089 Share on other sites
November 26, 200321 yr Author comment_58521 I've been thinking this ever since all the hub caps rolled off over the course of a week last summer. with the hubs on, the car looked alot better. now it's ghetto to the max.only problem is the fact that rims cost beaucoup $$$ and if I'm going to drop that kind of money I would get at least 15" rims, which means I'd need new tires to match'm.Although I'm young, I don't have it 'made' like some. I'm living on my own and going to school, and that tends to eat the $$$ up. plus it's december...maybe by spring I can work something out. November 26, 200321 yr comment_58555 Check with a few bone yards, you should be able to get some rims for a decent price. Just make sure you get ones with 4" of backspacing. By the way, Welcome!edit: If you have the original hub caps take care of them. In good shape those are worth some $$$.
