Taking screws off suction chamber?

If you don't have an impact driver, use the "poor man's version" like I did: I put a #2 philips head in the stuck screw and tapped with a hammer. Don't go crazy as you might distort the housing. I think some of the problem comes from dissimilar metals having been together under pressure and temperature for a long time. That makes them want to stick to each other. The tapping helps break them loose.

It's worked for me so far on 3 out of 4 carbs I've dissassembled. (The 4th didn't have any problems removing them.)

Daniel's method has been mine too for the quite some time. through roadsters 510's z's, well, let's just say a "S" load of SU's. Now, just about every phillip's head screw I remove gets a couple taps for good luck. Of course, this is from a guy that a ball pean and a torch are his favorite tools. ROFL

i had the same issue , i switched from the phillips to a regular screw drive and had someone hold the carbs as I leaned into it to put pressure on it and they came out ok , but even the z therapy video says use a regular screwdriver , good luck:geek:

Yup, I got them off with a regular screwdriver. Cleaned them up real good, put them back on and now the car doesn't start. It tries to start and backfires. I haven't bothered with it since before Christmas but will get back to it in the next couple of weeks.:ermm:

well, the float bowls will have to get full of fuel, and also make sure the pistons go up and down smoothly by hand....that's really all there is to it....might take a few cranks to get the fuel level up so it'll start, might try starter fluid too....
