November 24, 200321 yr comment_58225 You should not have to cut the floor. Straight forward bolt-in. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9026-well-im-wondering/#findComment-58225 Share on other sites

November 24, 200321 yr comment_58237 Originally posted by mperdue I understand that when you put a ZX 5-speed into a 240Z, you have to cut the tunnel or switch to a 280Z stick. This isn't the case for the 260Z's? Does it matter if it's an early or late 260Z or did they all have the same chassis (just different bumpers).michael I'm not sure about the ZX trans. I was assuming a 280Z 5 speed. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9026-well-im-wondering/#findComment-58237 Share on other sites
November 24, 200321 yr comment_58239 The problem with the question is, which 5 speed? The FS5C71B fitted to all the NA and the earliest turbosXZ's are a bolt-in. The T5 units from the turbos are a pain. Search "T5" for more details or a good T5 install FAQ here Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9026-well-im-wondering/#findComment-58239 Share on other sites

November 24, 200321 yr comment_58254 Hmm, not sure if that tranny will bolt up to the L series engine. More importantly, trucks are geared lower to tow and do manual labor. The gear ratios will prolly be wrong for your application. Just because you are gaining another gear ratio in the box you may still lose a lot of performance from the 4spd. Find a manual (or spec sheet) from the truck and check the ratios to be sure they will work for you.
