ozlime240z Posted November 24, 2003 Share #1 Posted November 24, 2003 Hi All, I'm chasing some Simmons FR 17x7 Wheels for my 240z. I've got some prices from some local guys here in brisbane but I was wondering... A) Does anyone know the where the cheapest place to get Simmons wheels in Australia is? Doesn't matter whether it be mail order or drive in and drive away, just where to get em cheap / wholesale etc. Does anyone happen to have some FR 17's for sale? Here is a photo of a car with these Wheels on it. <IMG SRC="http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/500/2196outdoor-side01-med.jpg"> Photo Courtesy of jasonparuta Aren't They Awesome Seeyas Ozlime240z
Gav240z Posted November 24, 2003 Share #2 Posted November 24, 2003 I would also like to know this, I love simmons rims in both FR17's and B45's.I think the best place to find second hand ones is ozdat.comfrom time to time you see them for sale in their. At the moment I'm happy with the Superlites i got though. If I find a set of Simmons and I have the money I'll consider changing then.:classic:
Brett240 Posted November 24, 2003 Share #3 Posted November 24, 2003 check out www.simmonswheel.com.au you'll probably have to get em retail, Simmons will custom make your wheels to order but only through i retailer i think.Try www.tyres.com these guys are pretty cheap and know their stuff but they are in Sydney. 26ounce Posted December 2, 2003 Share #6 Posted December 2, 2003 I'm looking for some nice wheels to put on my Z, but I'm horrified by the price of the custom wheels that the Z is limited to without a 5 lug conversion.I'm starting to wonder about those wheel converters/adapters you can get from the US. Can anyone else in Australia confirm these are illegal in all the states?
seerex Posted December 2, 2003 Share #7 Posted December 2, 2003 I have emailed alot of Japanese makers of wheels and after alot of typing found most will ship to you or somebody can get them , not sure what is expensive as in wheels for ya , but I got wantanbee and ssr to give me dealers in the us where I was told by about everyone in the states I deal with that they could not be gotten, kinda pricey yes roughly 300-450 a wheel but new and nobody on your block will have them, it helps to take the time to figure out what all is printed in japanse on their site, good luck Jeff:geek:

zed240au Posted December 3, 2003 Share #9 Posted December 3, 2003 you wont get 8" wheels under the back of a 240z made the standard way by simmons i ordered mine v4 15x7 front and 15x8 back but the backs would not fit had to change them abck to 15x7 later on i changed the rear spring perches ( jag that run style) and got new inners made up to get 15x8 on the back which fitted perfect until the 245 tyres wore out them found out you cant get 245 50 series tyres anymore so changed back to 15x7 have been told 15x8 fit under 260z backSimmons are dear those two inners cost me $550 5 years ago and they are the unpolished sideMick
That Ozzy Guy Posted December 3, 2003 Share #10 Posted December 3, 2003 hey Ozlime,I've got a set but not for sale. Besides, they are the wrong size anyway. Great set of wheels ay.You might want to try http://www.tempetyres.com.au/ they are by far the cheapest retailers for most things but you have to bargain to get the great deals they are famous for. They will better any price you can find. Not sure if they stock Simmons but if they don't they might be able to get them since the factory is only a 5 min drive from their store anyway.Incidentally, if you have seen that bodgy movie 'Fat Pizza' you would have seen a scene in their store. Gee Posted December 3, 2003 Share #11 Posted December 3, 2003 I've always wondered, since 180sx's have 114.3 spacing, do the wheels fit properly on a 240??
Mr Camouflage Posted December 4, 2003 Share #12 Posted December 4, 2003 I think sx wheels would have too much offset to fit on a 240z
