Dumb Q for you Aussie guys.

I have always heard that draining water spins in the opposite direction from the way it does in the northern hemisphere. Is there any truth to this?!! I have never been in the southern half and am curious. My Fluids professor mentioned it.

:geek:

I dont understand the reason why... but I will.

How would they know? If they've never been to the northern hemisphere they'd have the same problem as you.

thats interesting because my fluids lecturer said that they did tests with tanks that they made sit for a year, and it was entirely random. If the tanks aren't sitting still for a while, there could still be vibrations and waves that cause the water to go a certain way.

Then he tried to prove it to us by showing that the effect of the corriolas effect wouldn't do anything to the water.

But im stupid and forgot what to do so I can't back that up, but I can say my lecturer was a very cool dude because he had long hair. I'm not sure if that helps at all though...
