Posted November 26, 200321 yr comment_58457 Well, I tried Eibachs and hated them. Now I am back to stock springs but am wondering if I could put stock 280Z sway bars (1" front and 7/8" rear -- if that was stock for the 280) into my 240. I know there is no rear mounting point but I aquired cross member (from a 280 I think) some time ago that has mounting points for the sway bar.Has anyone done this conversion? Also, I could post a picture of the crossmember but am not sure how to do so. November 26, 200321 yr comment_58460 I don't think that picture is of a 280Z Rear Sway bar mount. It looks just like the brackets supplied with aftermarket sway bars from Suspension techniques and Ground Control. The pic I'm attaching is from Ground Control.AFAIK, the 280 Z Rear Bar mounts FORWARD of the diff, not to the rear like this one. November 26, 200321 yr comment_58470 Darrin,Remember if your ride ht. has changed you must have your toe in reset. Also I have the stock 280 front bar on my 72. they are not as big as you mentioned. I had one of those bigass front aftermarket bars and it tore the mounts right out of the frame. I was autocrossing a lot. Pissed me off at the time. The rear one I have is the type that mounts forward. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9064-sway-bars/#findComment-58470 Share on other sites
November 26, 200321 yr comment_58478 I am not sure what you are asking here but I will describe what I am running . I have a '73 build date 8/73 the same date for the start of the 260. There are backets from the factory on the car , they do not look like your pictures . These are of thick sheet metal. The stock sway bar that fits is from the early '74 260 . Unlike the 280 bar this one has bends in the section that transverses the car so that it will clear the diff. . The later 260s have the stright bar just like the 280 , I dont know when the change was made but if you find a early '74 your set. all the rest of the parts are interchangeable. I hope this helps.
