Posted November 28, 200321 yr comment_58722 I'm looking for a 4BBL intake manifold for my 1974 260z. If anyone has some links or names of companies who make such a part please post em here. Also lookign for a cheap 6 to 1 header, and a decent rebuild kit. (rings, gaskets etc) Any advice? December 21, 200321 yr comment_61498 Hey Goose, Arizona Z Car makes a 4bbl conversion manifold. They will also sell you a rebiult carb and kit for the manifold. As well as Exhaust header. Both parts are less than at MotorSport Auto(MSA). This guy's got some really trick Z stuff for less. :devious: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9102-74-260z-4bbl-intake/#findComment-61498 Share on other sites

January 13, 200421 yr comment_64036 4bbl wouldn't be recommended....the fuel has to turn 90 degrees to go to the motor (as opposed to a v8 where it doesn't)go with 2 SUs, the fuel goes in a straight line.Don't know of anyone that doesn;'t eventually want to get rid of their 4bbl eventually off of their z. September 29, 200519 yr comment_139888 Go with the 4bbl. I have the arizona set up and love it. No sycronizing carbs. Set it once and forget it. Why this is not a mandatory upgrade for Z owners is beyond me. September 29, 200519 yr comment_139892 Come on, the guy asked the question almost two years ago and he has 10 posts. 4 barrel carbs as a manditory upgrade? I'm curious to see how that statement flies here even though this thread should have been left for dead. Why this is not a mandatory upgrade for Z owners is beyond me.If you every drive a Z with a properly set up set of SUs, you will find that the legitimicy of your 4 barrel answer is now "beyond" you. I have driven both-properly setup (the brand new 4 barrel by a Holley trained specialist-with factory input, and a two month old set of rebuilt SUs from ZTherapy-at a track on the same day-best three out of four runs. I sold the 4 barrel kit that day, and look back only to remember this quote from the guy who told me his SUs could walk my Holley: "Tune, rejet, what every you want, Some answers are for lazy people, and some are for people who want the best performance-wanna race?"Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9102-74-260z-4bbl-intake/#findComment-139897 Share on other sites
September 29, 200519 yr comment_139913 Why this is not a mandatory upgrade for Z owners is beyond me. It isnt a mandatory "upgrade" because most Z owners have more common sense than to lower the performance of their engines, and the term "upgrade" implies improvent which it most certainly isnt.If you find a performance gain by moving to a 4 barrel carb on a 90 degree manifold, either your SU's were poorly set up in the first place, or you woke up realising it was just a bad dream. September 29, 200519 yr comment_139915 The "mandatory upgrade" comment came from a 260Z owner. Well, I suppose even the 4 bbl would be an improvement over the 260Z flat-tops. But when I yank the injection out of my car, it's getting round-top SUs.
