O.K., I loaded five files from the Night at Farmington, they were taken 10/26/2006, so Norm was correct in that he had laid off as of APRIL 2006, but by that Summer he was running again, and I met up with him while in the area to make passes with my Rental Sentra and him with his 240.

There are five photos of 'Norm the 12 Second SU Dude' in the Galleries under Z Photos, Miscellaneous; I punched the button by accident and they uploaded before I gave detialed individual notes-but it's all moot anyway you can't see 'em till they're moderated. So till that time comes, can't post em in this thread.

That was Norm, Circa October 2006! LOL

Tony, how do you post so much everywhere???? hehe

Hey Jim good to see you here as well! I haven't posted here in quite awhile. For anyone who doesn't know Jim I can vouch that he is a super dude!!

Anyway I have been up and running since March 2006. I raced a lot last year at the 1/8 mile but broke a few parts as usual. I broke 2 diffs(3.9 and 3.7), a mount, an axle u joint and an ANOTHER tailshaft housing last year.

I haven't raced much since installing the 3.54 rear end as I had to advance my cam timing for running at the 1/8 mile track and it just killed my 1/4 mile times.

I ran in February this year and with the advanced cam timing and 3.54 my times dropped way off the mark to a best of 12.98 although the 1/8 mile was still decent at 8.27.

I haven't raced anymore this year though as this tailshaft housing has been acting up as well and it may break at the track when I finally go again and I haven't felt like crawling under that bitch again for repairs!! haha

The weather should cool down in late Septemeber and I will try to race in October. I need to get another 3.9 or 4.11 before bothering to hit the 1/4 mile track again though.

I changed headers back in 2004 and never ran it with the old setup before wasting the clutch and main cap and piston. I put another block in it in 2006 and installed a crank scraper as well.

Until I get another 3.9 and retard the cam again I won't know what it really is capable of running but I somewhat doubt that I will better my 12.8 @ 107.36 mph that I turned in 2003 on street tires.

BTW I have a diesel crank with a stock 280 bore with stock 280 rods and pistons with a .070" shaved N42 with mild 272/282 .460" cam with bored SU's.

  • 5 years later...
Double zombie thread!!! It was first revived in 2007 after three years and now again after five more years. What we have here is a Zombie Apocalypse! :)

Gotta Love these Zombie Threads!!! hahaha Whats even funnier is that I am JUST NOW repairing the tranny damage done from way back in 2007!! Fifth gear started rattling last month after a hard charging 154 mph indicated (actual speed about 143 mph) race down a nearby road(which shall remain nameless)........ LOL
