sblake01 Posted August 16, 2007 Share #37 Posted August 16, 2007 Beyond the manifold/carb set-up and possible poor compression, only one person mentioned anything about ignition. Without adequate ignition to fire the fuel/air charge, all the other stuff is a waste of time if you think you want better performance......it's the proper combination of all aspects of the engine that really makes great HP. Just my 2 cents for thought!TomWhat you're saying is true. But for the original poster it's rather moot. A. He was dealing with a rather tired engine with a really bad combination of parts.B. He hasn't posted here in nearly three years.

CoastGuardZ Posted August 16, 2007 Share #43 Posted August 16, 2007 I've met up with Jeff (the Orig. Poster) before... He ditched the L28 for a SB Chevy, then he got rid of the 280 and picked up a 240. It is nice to see these old threads once in awhile... some names I haven't seen around here in awhile, some of which some may not care to see again...Stephen summed it up best..."He was dealing with a rather tired engine with a really bad combination of parts." JimmyZ Posted August 16, 2007 Share #44 Posted August 16, 2007 HA! A dead thread! How did this one get revived? I saw the post before my first saying "last edited 2003". How did this post make it to the front page?I'll make this my last for this one. RIP old thread:)

Tony D Posted August 17, 2007 Share #46 Posted August 17, 2007 I tried to edit this into the last post but it had timed out. Norm says that he hasn't run the car in question for about three years. Then meeting him at Farmington NC Drag Strip last summer and running must have been my hallucination. Norm laid off for a while, but he was running it last summer, as well as this summer...at least until something breaks.I'll try to post some photos of him against a 700HP ZO6... sblake01 Posted August 17, 2007 Share #47 Posted August 17, 2007 Maybe I misunderstood what I read on Zcar.com. Or it was a different car he was referring to. Re: Norm!!! the 12 Second DUDE... Posted by: norm(The 12 sec Dual SU Dude) Date: April 13, 05:07PMThanks Evan ,now I just have to improve my times. It sucks sitting still for 3 years straight. I have some fresh ideas I have just been too lazy to implement them!
Tony D Posted August 18, 2007 Share #48 Posted August 18, 2007 Yeah, that is a bit off, he's running this year--I think I was with him when I went to Farmington near the beginning of the season, or last fall before everything shut down... I can't remember. He had laid off for a while, but he was hitting the drags regularly this year. Give me a second, and I'll see if I can get an album started and put the photos I took of Norm while I was there, when I pull up the photos on my computer, I can tell when I took them and make a definite statement as to when it was!
