Posted November 30, 200321 yr comment_58918 Hey guys...........i have a 74 260z and it needs both bumpers, VB has them but they are really exspensive(around $500 per bumper)because i need more than the bumper, I need the brackets ect... Do you guys know where i can get bumpers for cheap, I already called a bunch of junkyards but i kindof knew they werent gonna have 260's. Thanks in advance!Daniel Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9127-bumpers/ Share on other sites
November 30, 200321 yr comment_58924 Are the 260z bumpers unique to that model? From what I know the 240s had the small useless bumpers and from the 260 on was the huge crash bumpers. So maybe you could find a 280z bumper out there somewhere. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9127-bumpers/#findComment-58924 Share on other sites
November 30, 200321 yr comment_58926 It depends on whether he has an early or late 260. The early 260's had a bumper that was nearly identical to the 73 240's except for the all rubber "bumper guards", and the late 260 had bumpers the same as the 75 280's. Either way, buying new ones will be expensive, and buying used ones will require some work to restore. If you have an early 260 with the smaller bumpers, you might be further ahead to get the mounts and bumpers for the early 240. Still not cheap if you buy new, but possibly cheaper and easier to obtain than the later 280 style bumpers. November 30, 200321 yr comment_58930 I am finding it is still cheaper to buy new bumpers even though they are pricey. The cost to re-chrome one bumper is in the $500 range - after purchasing an old one!
