Contrary to my username I am not Ozzy. I was born in Macedonia and came to Sydney in 1987 where I've settled in very nicely. I do consider myself as much an Ozzy as anyone and love this country like it were my own motherland.

I love movies, a fat book, a decent meal, jumping out of planes and riding my bike downhills. Most recently I've fallen in love with a '72 240Z.

My friend who's and ol' schooler was constantly trying to get me to buy an old 8. I've loved the '67 Fastbacks since a wee little lad so I started shopping for one but soon realised that they are not as affordable as I originaly thought. So the quest for my next car came to a halt.

That is untill I saw a 240Z in the streets near my house. Having never seen one I was more than curious and dubbed it my unicorn not knowing anything about this car. During a conversation one night soon after I brought up my unicorn and my friends realised I was reffering to a Z. That night I started my research and the rest is history as they say. Didn't take me too long to find one which was surprising because of the rarity of them here in Aus.

Again I must thank Steve Curtis who led me to my car.:classic:

Thus ends my story and here begins my love of my unicorn.

ok ok, that was a bit  but it's true

Hi everyone

My name is Lee and I live in Perth, Western Australia

I am 37 years old, married with two son's aged 17 and 9, both are Zed fans (a great help when it comes to getting more money out of the wife)

I have been mad on most sports cars since I was seven or eight years old.

I can remember looking at 240 and 260's around that age and promised myself I would get a 260 one day (working on the assumption that the 260 must be better than a 240 because it had a bigger number, well I was just a kid)

Well, I never got the 260 but I am now on my third 240 (one 72 model and two 1970 cars)

My current 70 model car is just about to go through a complete restoration, should start later this month.

I also love motorbikes and currently ride a Honda Blackbird (well I had to have something to get to work on without getting stuck in traffic) My wife says the bike has to go to finance the zed restoration, I naturally agreed but told her I needed to get the zed underway first (he he he)

It's great getting a bit of an insight into the people you often communicate with (and those you don't)

Keep the threads coming

Happy new year to everyone

Regards

Lee

Well I did a search and found that I had not introduced myself

My Name is Owen, 40ish, I am a Geologist that left the field after 22 years became a computer geek (Systems Engineer) and now am becoming a junk yard dog

Live in the Sacramento California Area, I have always liked the Z since I saw one up close in 1970 when a local "Rich dude" traded in his Mercedes for 240Z and a 510. I remember the day very well because he said that he was tired of the cost of maintaining the Mercedes so he got the Z for himself and the 510 for the wife.

Have the following autos:

1971 240Z (Zena)

1979 620 Pickup (Buzz)

1992 Saturn SL2 (Sally)

1993 Saturn SC2 (Sue)

1996 Volvo 850 (Vicki)

I got the Z on June 6, 2002 an currently gathering parts for the restore

You can see Zena and Buzz at my web site www.aristata.net

Hi,

My name is Mike and I'm a fast car-aholic. I currently have a 1972 240 that I am using for vintage and club racing. The former owner ran the car in ITS, but I am busy removing weight and adding horsepower to make it competitive in CP. This is the first race car I have owned that didn't have a V8, but it's just as much fun and way easier to work on. Previous race cars have been a 1993 Corvette (Showroom Stock racer) a highly modified 1994 Corvette, which won the 2000 PRO racing series championship and compteted in Speedvision World Challenge, and a Superformance Cobra replica, which did some vintage and club racing as well.

I got interested about a year ago, when a freind of mine (Stephen Johnstone - on this forum) invited me to co-drive his ITS Z car in a vintage enduro. We started last (didn't qualify) and finished 4th in a car that cost only a couple grand. The next day I started looking for a Z of my own.

I'll post some race car pics soon.

Mike

Hi... brand new Z owner. Only previous restoration experience was 1965 VW Bug, 66 VW bug (put Porsche 914 engine and tranny in it and it would pop a wheelie in first gear) , an 85.5 Porsche 944 and most recently a 1980 Triumph Spitfire.

Not sure I am still up to the task of this Z but it got it for a song and it appears to be nearly rust free and all original, so I am making a try at it.

I have eight children via adoption so I have zero free time but I work on the car when I can here and there. I need some expert out there to come see me some weekend and have a Z marathon so I can get some stuff done.

My cars, in order of ownership:

66 VW Bug

73 Olds Cutlass Supreme

78 Chevy Caprice

83 Honda Civic

87 Honda Prelude

90 Honda Prelude

92 Toyota Camry

85 Porsche 944

96 Dodge Ram Van 15 passenger

96 Plymouth Grand Voyager

80 Triumph Spitfire *

71 Datsun 240z *

02 PT Cruiser *

02 GMC Savana 12 passenger *

92 Honda Accord SE *

* Still owns

Hi, glad to be able to introduce myself. Im Steven, Live on the south coast of NSW Australia. I first saw a 240Z in about 72, it was the first prize in a shopping centre contest, i must have been 12 or so, and that was it. That was the car i had to have.

So in 78 while i was a apprentice motor mechanic i sold my sole to the bank and got a 77 260z 2+2, not what i wanted but my family would help me pay for it if they could sit in it too.

In 85 i bought my current 240 and drove it for 3 years until my daughter was borne, then sold it for a station wagon ( why do we do that ? ). Then in 98 i bought it back from the guy i sold it to.

Five years ago i started on rebuilding the car, first i fitted a L28, then supercharged it .

Three years later i striped the body back to bare metal, had it painted and repaired, this took 6 months in the shop. Once i got the car home again the suspension, brakes, transmission, RB 30 Engine, wiring, glass, rubber seals, badges, dash board and chrome was replaced or rebuilt.

Other cars ive owned are two Datsun 1600's ( P510) a Nissan stanza, 78 skyline, old Volvo wagon, 850 Volvo sedan, Lexus SC400 and im thinking of a Nissan GTi-R Pulsar to replace the Lexus.

For the last 5 years ive been teaching Motor mechanics, car and truck at TAFE (Technical and Further Education)

Happy to meet you all.

Steven

hi all, my name is gary but i go by clutchdust (don't want to tell you how many clutches earns a nickname like that) and i live in las vegas.

married, two cats and a dog.

i own a '94 chevy truck i use for business and an '81 corvette. the corvette has been my passion since i was a kid.

i don't actually own a Z right now, nor have i ever. i have a friends '72 sitting in my driveway though. she parked it a few years ago because of an electrical problem and asked me a few months ago if i could get it running for her. so i've been working on it here and there but it looks like the years of no maintenance while it was running and even less maintenance while it was parked has taken it's toll.

still, i've been looking at it for a couple months now and have to admit, it's a good looking car. almost rivals my vette (almost).

i think i might just buy this car off her. it's rusting and needs alot of work but for a couple hundred bucks, i don't think it would be a bad deal at all. besides, i'm a grease-under-the-fingernails type and i've already envisioned a 4.3L chevy v-6 with a t-5 tranny in that big, open engine bay. oh yeah!

mistressmotorsports, i think i may have met you at some point. i have worked a few SCCA and other races out here and i seem to recall that name.

ROFL:love:ROFL:love:

G'Day all,

Rick O'Brien, 59 going on 25, Joined the army in '64,

married 35 yrs. (she deserves a medal). One son, a psychologist in Brisbane. Keeps trying to use his magic on me but I tell him to go shake his bat's wings, rat tails, chicken legs and other amulets of of his magical arts at someone who'll pay him.

Having retired, we now live on the Queensland coast at Yeppoon, about 45 kms from Rockhampton.

In november 2000 we were in Brisbane looking for a car to "do up" when my sharp eyed wife noticed a Bronze 260 Z in a car yard as we drove past.

Did a Ueee, had a test drive, gave them a cheque for $3,500.00

and drove it home.

It's now at the stage where I only have the whine in the diff fixed and she's ready for the paint shop.

Rick.

Hello. My name is Shannon, I'm 31 and I live in Gaithersburg, MD.

My very first car was a '79 280ZX and that was all it took for me to fall in love with small, fast cars. Back in August of '02 I bought a '73 240Z off of ebay and (thanks to 2Many) realized that the car was going to need more work than I had ever imagined. The car has since been sold and I have learned quite a few things about these little wonders.

Over the weekend I bought a '75 280Z that is in really good shape. It will need a little TLC but not much. At least this one runs and runs well.

I've had my fair share of play toys and daily drivers.

1979 280ZX

1989 Chevy Beretta

1994 Pontiac Firebird

1993 Ford Ranger

1967 Mercury Cougar

1999 Pontiac Firebird

1997 Ford F150 Flareside

1984 Ford Bronco

1973 240Z

1987 Volvo 740 Turbo *

1975 280Z *

*= still have.

ROFL What woman needs clothes, shoes and jewelry when there are cars!
