Brake, Clutch & Gas pedal

I'm recovering my pedals and am looking for something that looks a little faster. What do you guys use to cover the brake, clutch and gas pedals? Do you use the stock rubber pads? Or do you use those aluminium pedal covers?

The one time I altered the pedals in a car, I used aluminum covers that were held to the original redal with a nut and bolt "clamp" system. It sucked, as I could never get them to stay tightly secured. From now on, I'll stick with OEM.

Maybe that type of product has improved since then, but I won't take a chance.

Most of the aftermarket "pedal pads" are just that, clamp on. I've got a set on the 71, and am not sure if they are gonna stay on long either. You'll find some that clamp on over the stock rubber pads(not the best IMO) and then there are those that clamp and sometimes bolt through the steel pad of the pedal assembly itself. I guess most of them you could modify to put a self tapping screw through the steel of the pedal, which IMO is the best way to go.

As far as racing goes, I've seen guys use expanded metal, and even just welding on larger plates with a non-skid stick on tape material like you would use on a step in your garage.

I had the same luck with the clamp on kind , does anyone know where to purchase the weld on kind,looking for the style with holes in them , I have searched for months I can buy the whole pedal set attached but its for like a rail buggy , any help would be great

I have had some stock pads but were old and one was kinda slippery. We recently put a set of the Momo pads that are alum. with colored rubber grip pads. They are wider, give better grip and if you use a driving shoe they are expensive and somewhat softer sole, the Momo pad won't tear up your shoe sole like some of those alum. pads with sharp holes. I use a nylon-locking nuts and you drill holes through the metal pedal and the pads are installed with 2 screws through the pad and pedal.

Not come loose yet. You can also try using a loc-washer and double nut it?

That's what I thought about the clamp on kind. They might look nice but they are not practical. Screwing them to the pad would be the best bet. How about glueing rubber pads or naugahyde to the pedals?
