December 8, 200321 yr comment_59830 Are you wearing your seatbelt? I recall (barely) that my 78 Z had a fasten seatbelt warning buzzer, but I thought it activated as soon as I started the engine. Hope this helps! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9205-buzzing-noises/#findComment-59830 Share on other sites

December 8, 200321 yr comment_59838 if I remember correctly there should be a white buzzer located on the steering column assembly just out of sight. If you reach up there when the buzzer is buzzing, you should be able to feel it vibrating and maybe reach the two wires that go to it. I could be wrong on the 72, but let your ears lead you in the right direction, good luck,Dave. December 8, 200321 yr comment_59865 If it's the seatbelt warning buzzer, try wearing your seatbelt . If it still sounds when you ARE wearing the seatbelt, then just track down where the noise is coming from and unplug it. Cheers, Peter Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9205-buzzing-noises/#findComment-59865 Share on other sites

You are correct, though my buzzer isn't white, it is bare metal, but the location is at the steering collumn, and it's easy to disconnect, BUT; do yourself a favor and wear the seatbelt anyway! January 5, 200421 yr comment_62855 Isn't the one up in the steering column the key in ignition switch chime? This has two same colored wires runing from the back of the actual switch, through the covers, out with the rest of the wires up into the dash on the right side of the column. If I remeber it right. This might simply mean one of your pin switches is shorted closed. To disconnect it pull on e or both wires apart from their other half.:devious: There is a seat belt buckle switch running from the buckle to the warning lamp in th consul. I don't recall any of my Z's buzzing for the seat belts though. :devious: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9205-buzzing-noises/#findComment-62855 Share on other sites
January 5, 200421 yr comment_62858 My 72 HAD this feature untill the 5 speed upgrade. I would have kept it IF the 5 speed had a fitting for the "In Gear" switch like the 4 speed had.I must admit, I wore my belts habitually when the buzzer worked and Less often now that the system is disabled. :stupid: I can't remeber where the buzzer was located, But it also operated a light on the console fusebox cover, next to the "Choke On" lamp. But it operated exactly like Jeff descibes, It buzzed only while the transmission was in gear and the drivers seat belt unlatched.
