Bad leak, after accident... Can anyone recognize this piece?

Well.. as most of you may know of my accident....

I noticed I have anti-freeze leaking all over my passenger floor.. I looked for the source and it is a valve where the Inlet hose for the heater core comes in through the engine bay into a valve and then splits apart to the heater core.

Here is a diagram from my book...

that is the heater unit , it could be either hose the short one is the inlet from the side of the block and the other long one goes the either the waterline spliter if you have water in your manifold or directly to the waterneck above the alternator

Chloe at Midwest Z is where you start. She will get you the best price and the best service. Check carefully where the hoses run through the firewall (from the engine side at first) as it could be a cracked hose and the A/F runs along the hose to the lower points which are inside your car. See if the hoses are wet there in the engine bay near the firewall. If they aren't, I'd get the hoses AND the valve and replace it all at once. This isn't the kind of job that you want to do twice, as you'll spend a lot of time on your back, upside down in the passenger footwell replacing this stuff.

PS you'll be more comfortable doing this job if you pull the passenger seat out so you have more room to lay in there.

Just my $.02

it is a valve , have you check to see that the heater hoses are just bad and cracked maybe in an are you can't see, if the hose feels hard and lacks the rubbery feels they might just be bad , much cheaper than the valve and if i was under there doing that anyway I would replace the hoses just to make sure I wasn't under there replacing them after the valve as well, good luck

But I noticed that when I turn on the heater and start the car.. I see antifreeze comming out of the valve (is it a valve?)

I see it squirting down to the hoses. So.. hmm

Sounds like the valve is bad from your description. Unless the hoses look virtually new and are soft and supple as "Z beautie's butt", I'd replace them at the same time! As stated before, you don't want to have to do this job twice.

Please, Take Carls word to heart, he got the pleasure of listening to me bitch when I had a bad hose and thought it was the heater core or the valve.

And found it was the hose, AFTER!!! I pulled the heater core out of the car.

Replace the hoses if you have ANY doubt in your mind.

its not worth the pain of lying upside down in your Z, twice. do it right the first time.

Dave.
