December 8, 200321 yr Author comment_59901 Yeh I will replace everything if I get to it... I have to remove the heater Blower in order to get up there. Really weird place where it is. But I also noticed where there are screws holding that valve up there.. I see antifreeze dripping off of the screws and lots of green antifreeze covering the whole thing. But.. if I get this valve... What is it? Where can I get it? How much is it? .. sorry I am kinda snowed in right now... so i am just wondering so I don't have to go to the Nissan Dealership. She will get you the best price and the best service. Not sure what the EXACT Nissan name is, but if you ask for a Heater Control Valve for a 1978 280Z, almost anyone would know what you are talking about. Make sure you also get all of the hoses in that area, and you might want to get new grommets where they pass through the firewall unless yours are in very good shape. December 8, 200321 yr Author comment_59906 Called my local dealership just to check out the prices. Heater **** is what it's called. For the new heater **** valve, it will cost $100 for a new one. Then about $150 for the removal and install. Total... $250 for a damn heater valve. December 8, 200321 yr comment_59914 I'll bet you $5 that Chloe will beat their prices! Remember, that $100 is for the valve ONLY. Once their mechano-jock starts ripping on it, they'll be adding hoses to the bill too, so figure on $300+ if you send the job out to them. I don't think anyone has actually told you that this is a ( Water valve ) It shuts off the coolant from going into the heater core ( during the summer) but the rubber seal on the inside eventually roughts away and the whole valve must be replaced. your best bet for long life on the valve is to keep it open at all times ( heater control on HEAT ) like any thing mechanical, the less you use it the least likely it'll wear out. screw that!!! buy the part and put it in your self, there is no time like the present to learn to work on your Z, every aspect of it. @ clamps and 2 crews, come on once again, good luck. It rotates with the Dashboard Restoration folks ad. You could also send CHLOE a Private message. Her username is " mwz ". Tell her she needs to put a picture of herself on the site too! December 14, 200321 yr Author comment_60682 I went into my car today and took some pictures with my crappy camera and a flashlight. I went through and circled and labeled different components. Now this is the view from underneath the passenger dash, under the blower motor and looking at the inlet and outlet of the antifreeze hoses.
