I know alot of people are building replica's and such but who here can say they own a true original ZX-R or Z432/432R or a Fairlady Z or even a 10th aniversary 280zx or 50th Aniv 300zx ?

Personaly i have owned a 10th Aniversery 1979 280zx Gold and Black dash emblem and leather interior

And i own a 1979 280zx Fairlady Sports

Im not saying mine are rare but they are of the limited bunch

At least 3 people in the Tampa Bay Florida area have rare ones. Do you know who and what they have?

I have number 26. Carl Beck is here. He has 20 and a BRE car. He just sold 42. Jim Frederick has 16, 19, 322, a Paul Newman owned car, one of the 42 Nissan rebuilds, a Fairlady, and a bunch of other seriously interesting cars. The Suncoast Z Car Club just had the Christmas party at Jim's. I'll post some pictures.

You're asking about people "on here" ( members of this site ) right? I know quite a few people who are NOT members of this site who have 'rare' and unusual cars, and one of them does not even own a computer.

I learned a good time ago that there is always someone somewhere who has something better / rarer / 'more unique'. Its the quiet ones you have to watch................:classic:

Besides the low volume production models such as the 432R's, the lowest VIN numbers of each models production, and the low volume "Special Edition" (Zap-Z, Black Pearls, ZXR's, and Anniversary Edition) model cars, I'd have to include cars that are still in their original owners hands. Cars with original paint, etc, which after 30+ years could be considered true "survivors"...

Or, cars with a true racing history, whether or not it was amateur or professional racing and is still in its "as raced" condition.

You could even say any car that still has its original floor pans and all chassis parts with no rust as a "rare" car as well.

Or a car that has gone from Japan to the US, and back again more than once....In which case, I'd have to say Kats owns the "rarest" of all the members here, since his car is probably one of the only HLS-30 cars that now resides in Japan.

2Many and Mike both have rare Z's.....because they have rarely been on the road!!! ROFL

OK, now that we're feeling humorus...........I'd say my Z is "Well done", as opposed to "Rare" or "Medium Well" It is however #2126.........not rare, but very yummy to drive!

I have the only Metallic Green '73 240Z with worn steering rack, original engine, tatty carpets and rusty drivers door in my suburb (and probably the next suburb as well!).

Remember that 'low numbered' cars are really low-numbered for their chassis type. Eg. I think 26th-Z (that IS low!) is actually 26th-HLS30..!

What about high numbered cars? I have HS30-103477 and sjcurtis, who recently began documenting chassis numbers of RHD cars, commented that there were only a couple that were younger in Australia...

Well that number is indeed rare!

I believe there is at least one (103479) in existence in Queensland. Interestingly, its the same colour green/tan as mine...maybe they were made in batches.

We play a lot of Bingo down here in Tampa, Alan! Shuffleboard is big too. But to answer billcapp’s question, there are a bunch of S30’s in the Tampa Bay area and even to my surprise, a bunch of low serial number HLS30 cars including a new acquisition in Lakeland. I saw a Black Pearl last weekend at a Suncoast Z Car club party and rally.

I don’t know that I would call the cars rare, but rather unique. Rare should have a higher standard, in my opinion. A car of maybe fifty examples, maybe one hundred examples is rare. I don’t think the S30 is rare. There are also very many unique variations of the S30; a unique type on it’s own with a unique and interesting history. How unique a specific car is might be a better question as we compare the words “rare” and “unique”. An S30 variant produced less than fifty times might be the most rare of unique!

Perhaps uniqueness ratings could be ranked in points - one point for each unique feature. Everyone who owns an S30 starts with one point. HLS30 in Japan - two points. Tattyest carpet West of the Mississippi - two points. Factory variants get a point. HS30-H - two points. ZZZap edition - two points. Tattyest carpet West of the Mississippi HS30-H - four points because it is in America.
