I am at the point of doing suspension and was hoping to get ideals from everyone out there as far as what they have and like or don't like , only thing I am set on is new energy suspension bushing <full set> , I was thinking Eibach progressive springs or the pro kit and tokico or kyb struts, gonna be a weekend car and hopefully a fast one , thanks in advance for the help :geek: Jeff

Currently running old weak OEM springs, KYB strut carts, all Poly bushings.

Next upgrade is Mulholland (old school) short, stiff springs that I just got from member greyghost, and a 1" front sway bar and a 3/4" rear sway bar, and 14" X 7" Konig Rewind wheels. Tires to be determined.

Do you want a harsher then stock ride that will handle like its on rails or do you want a better then stock handling with a decent ride. You have to ask yourself first what you want then decide.

Me personally, if it doesnt ride rough and handle anything I throw at it, its not good enough.

My best set up was on my 72, SST sway bars, 1 inch up front 7/8 at the rear, tokico springs and struts, energy suspension bushings and front strut bar. Granted on a road that was less then good you felt all bumps but at the same time I coud drive it like I stole it without fear.

If you want a daily driver type without a lot of harshness in the ride I would go with the Eibach progressive rate spings, and definetly go with tokico struts, they are the only way to go.

I have the ST sway bars and ST springs. I believe the struts are kyb's but I'm not sure. I would recommend replacing all of the old bushings w/ poly first, and with springs, none of the major springs (without going to coilovers) are much over 200 lbs so I think the stiffer the better, the ST's are 196/208 I think, much stiffer then the tokicos, and the car is not harsh and if anything could be stiffer for auto-x. It really depends on how much ride quality you are willing to sacrifice, but as it is a sports car I would think that a stiffer more responsive ride is correct for the car, ever drive a vette?

my old z had suspension techniques springs I guess what you guys call ST , and I loved the way it was , and had tokico blues on it, my crx now has neuspeed sports and tokico and I think it rides very comfortably, but I am sure we all diffrent ideals what rough and smooth are too , does the sway bar change the ride charateristics of the car in reguard to riding rougher?

it's bearable as a daily driver, but mostly weekends and racing events. I keep a daily driver neon for commute :)

ZmeFly's question is a good one to ask yourself! Personally, I agree with him on handling. With the modifications I've done to my 240, it now goes around corners really well! Lightyears better than it ever did in stock trim. Here's what I did to my Z.

All struts shortened 1 1/2", GC coilovers with 200 lbs x 10" up front and 275 lbs x 8" in the rear, urethane bushings throughout, GC street camber plates on all four corners. Tokico non-adjustables, strut tower braces front and rear, 1" front 3/4" rear anti-rollbars, 1" bumpsteer spacers, and quik-steer steering arms.

Now, your average person would say it's way to harsh of a ride (especially with 40 series 17s), but if you desire the ride of an SUV....buy an SUV!!! If you want a car that really corners.............then mod your Z to handle and you will likely never be concerned about the extra stiffness. You will however, enjoy an incredible amount of fun stuffing it into and around corners. NOTE: DON'T FORGET TO UPGRADE YOUR BRAKES!!!
