Posted February 13, 200223 yr comment_3047 Just started "shaving" the doors on the `72 project Z. I'll be installing remote openers with door poppers for keyless entry. Will happily post the process if anyone is interested... errr... this is assuming that I can make it work. If anyone has any caveats, I'd appreciate the heads-up.L8-r'Fink Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/926-a-close-shave/ Share on other sites
February 13, 200223 yr comment_3055 I have a friend that did that on an old ford.It worked great until the battery died.He couldn't get in the car! What he learned was to run an extra set of wires from the door solenoids to a hidden but accessable location. That way should your battery die you can hook up a good battery to your "life raft" pairs to gain access.Have Fun!! February 14, 200223 yr Author comment_3076 Thanks for the heads-up. I was already planning on putting a manual release for the tailgate (hidden of course). This would gain entry to the car. Concealed alarm reset button and door button for when the remote doesn't work. If car battery is dead, I guess I could always climb through the rear to pop the hood. Hmmm...
