moyest Posted December 12, 2003 Share #1 Posted December 12, 2003 Can't believe it, but some arse-wipe ran his key right down the passenger side of my 240z!!! Then he went to the trouble of wandering around the other side, and scratching the front side panel too!It happened a week ago, but I'm still really p!ssed off. :devious: Fortunately, my insurance company specialises in classic cars, and allows me to choose my own repairer. Not sure how much will buff/polish out, because I've already had a crack at it with my cut-n-polish. I'm thinking it'll need to be repainted (at least on those particular panels - all FOUR of them!).Does anyone have any tips or tricks? Words of condolence will also be appreciated. Thanks!Z Car Nut (aka MOYEST)

tanny Posted December 12, 2003 Share #4 Posted December 12, 2003 This kind of vandalism really gets a person's fantasies fired up! Like to give the perpetrator an epoxy colonic. Use his severed head as an antenna tip(don't worry, the air in his head would make his skull light enough to not bend the antenna). Tape his mouth to the exhaust pipe of a nitro dragster. The list goes on.... Victor.:devious:
Gav240z Posted December 12, 2003 Share #5 Posted December 12, 2003 Tell me about it Victor, I had a previous car vandalised pretty bad for no real reason. They bent the front door forwards smashed the window to get in and deflated a tyre ripped out the stereo and broke the antenna and centre console. Why couldn't they have broken the window and stolen the stereo left the rest alone. Instead 2 bent panels needing paint. 1 window and the list goes on they stole the remote for the remote gate at my house and even my deodorant some little punk kids no doubt. Even now I wanna find out who it is.. At least that wasn't a Z I had my car reversed into not once but twice just after I repaired the first time both times no note left nothing. I feel your pain I really do and as John Travolta said in Pulp Fiction i think it was it would have been worth it just to catch the guy who did it. You never F%^$ with a guy and his car ;-)

SurfColorado Posted January 6, 2004 Share #7 Posted January 6, 2004 take it to a detail shop and see what they say. they can work wonders, I used to do an intership with one for school. Sometimes you can heat the paint up by using a buffer, that it will take off the scratch. dont heat it up to much though, cause it can burn the paint. Id take it to a professionall detailer and see what he says, and let him get out the scratch. btw where are you located? maybe someone can susjest a good detail shop in your area
Zs-ondabrain Posted January 6, 2004 Share #8 Posted January 6, 2004 as for mine, they keyed it to the primer and the cut is up to 1/8" wide a certain points.I used to work in a hi-end body and detail shop, so I know there is no quick fix, unfortainately.
