Posted December 18, 200321 yr comment_61217 Well, I called Motorsport to order a G-Nose conversion kit, and they said they have the kits but not the hood hinge. Any idea where I might find one? Thanks! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9372-help-hood-hinge-needed-for-g-nose/ Share on other sites
January 14, 200421 yr comment_64194 Hi There,I am with you Eric. Bonnet hinges to suit a G-nose are needed "down under" as well.I bought some modified hinges a long time ago with a G-nose, but they were completely wrong in their geometry.Does anybody have any pics showing the design of the genuine (or non genuine that works) ?Somebody out there, must have the details, maybe even a sketch/drawing with dimensions- please? They seem to be in short supply anywhere. Thanks,Michael:classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9372-help-hood-hinge-needed-for-g-nose/#findComment-64194 Share on other sites
January 14, 200421 yr comment_64213 Guys what measurements do you want? I can take some measurements and stuff, but until I can find a normal hinge (in daylight) I wond know exactly whats different. From memory I think it would be alot of work, may be better off starting from scratch? I will work out some measurements. Cheers Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9372-help-hood-hinge-needed-for-g-nose/#findComment-64213 Share on other sites
January 15, 200421 yr comment_64351 Hi Chris,That's excellent thankyou.I asume the RHS hinge would be a true mirror of the LHS picture your sent us. Correct?I should be able to manufacture these based on your picture. The bolt holes distance would be the scale reference.Could you measure the holes center to center please?Am I correct in saying, that these hinges only mounts with 2 bolts, not 3 like the standard ones?Would you have a picture of the back side and one showing the profile as well, by any chance?Thank you again, this Z forum and it's subscribers are the best!Michael Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9372-help-hood-hinge-needed-for-g-nose/#findComment-64351 Share on other sites

January 15, 200421 yr comment_64381 Hello, these higher quality and somewhat better images I must confess are not mine, but were taken by Alan (HS30-H) for some unknown reason he can use a digital camera well and I cant . January 15, 200421 yr comment_64384 Thanks Mate,That is very helpful.I will go home tonight and contemplate how to make these hinges. Thanks a million.Michael Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9372-help-hood-hinge-needed-for-g-nose/#findComment-64384 Share on other sites
January 27, 200421 yr comment_66163 Thanks for all the help.I have now manufactured suitable hinges for my G-nose.They look nothing like stock, but the geometry is correct and they are very light. The secret lies in that the pivoting point is actually excactly where the third top bolt, on the standard hinges, mount.I cannot believe the hinges I was sold years ago from a reputable Z shop was so wrong. If anybody else need more info let me know.Michael Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9372-help-hood-hinge-needed-for-g-nose/#findComment-66163 Share on other sites
January 28, 200421 yr comment_66343 Hey, guys...I work Parts at Nissan, and those were Genuine Nissan parts. I'm going to check and see if there are any remaining in the States tomorrow, and post the price I could give you all. Awesome that you made your own, though. Just trying to pitch in any way I can!!! January 29, 200421 yr comment_66387 Can anyone post pics of their Gnose kits. I have been wanting to get one but won't settle for any copies unless they are extremely close to original. I am wondering how the MSA one looks and how close to original it is. Of course I'm still not 100% sure on if I want a Gnose just playing with the idea .:classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9372-help-hood-hinge-needed-for-g-nose/#findComment-66387 Share on other sites
January 30, 200421 yr Author comment_66556 to Motorsport. Give them a call, 1-800-633-6331. They are in huge demand, and people a alot of $$ for them. I found one on ebay and overpaid for it. Only place I am aware of to buy a g-nose is Motorsport. There is another shop in Canada (called showparts) that makes them, but i wouldnt order from them if I were you. They had no idea about the hinges when I called them, and they have alot of complaints on them on e-bay. Also they don't take caredit cards; you have to pay with a check up front so if they don't ship you have no recourse.
