hi guys

I was hoping one of yas might know a good seat place to take my drivers seat to. Its an original white vinal one out of my 260. Has cracks, sags, etc. I took it to blackmans and another joint in melb, but both want around 350-400 bucks to make it right. Any ideas. Just concentrating on the drivers one for the moment.

I also thought about dropping some mx5 seats in as the passenger seat isnt much better, but want to keep it original as it car still has factory radio, carpets, and spare tyre.

any help on the seat situation would be great

It's not very hard to completely recover the seats yourself. Plenty of places sell a pair of new seat covers (bottom and back for both seats) for under $200 US. You may need to add to that a small amount if the straps under the seat need replacing and another $90 or so per seat if you want to completely replace the foam core.

If you are a bit handy you may be able to do the cushion part yourself and get a pro to do the rest. Clark Rubber for one sell the cushion stuff like foam cut to size and the Pirelli webbing too I think. The original covers on my seats were good enough to only require new inserts and that did not cost a real lot.

Of course you remove the seats from the car yourself rather than pay someone else to do that.

I'm just in the process of getting a set (2 covers) from clasic datsun in the US $370 Aus inclusive of postage. Will have to pay duty and GST on arrival. But good value compared to getting re upholstered.

From all accounts covers are very close to the original and not too hard to fit.

If your not changing the foam or webbing, its almost as easy as putting on a seat cover.
