Datsun 140Z.... Yes 140Z

Well, we have an answer, Member 140Z emailed me a photo of his data plate, what he has is a beautifully modified B210(what it would have been called here in the states), that in the USA had an A14 engine-but his came from the factory with and L14( a 4cyl version of the 6cyl L20A). This was a hot car before the engine was swapped to the current engine, an L20b. The car is still a very interesting relative of the S30, regardless. His car is an early grafting of Nissan machinery!-what was done to this car is exactly what so many of us have done and are doing, substituting better (spelled higher output)Nissan parts into our cars.

What ever it may lack interms of actual "Z" lineage, it more than makes up for in its' modification within the Nissan parts bins, and I would be pleased to own one.

:ermm:

Without meaning to seem perhaps a little rude, it seems to me that if you had of read the post from start to finish you would have came to that exact conclusion without the need to wait for emails.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the owner is now part of the forum.

But no further information has been gained at all, as (thanks to Alfadog) we already knew the story behind it.

Good Shot! I thought so. Modified (like the Scarab) by an aftermarket company!

No. Build by Nissan in the South African Factory and sold through Datsun Nissan Dealers in South Africa.

Not an after market company.

They still make the Dasun 1200 ute in South Africa, It's updated a bit, and has a bigger engine (http://www.nissan.co.za/vehicles_bakkie_exterior.asp?n=1) but its still the same chassis.

Around 1974 there was a JDM Datsun Sunny Coupe 1400 GX , badged "Excellent GX". 1.4 litres twin SU type carbies, 95bhp and 875 kilos .

Aimed at those that could not afford a 240Z but still wanted the features.

Very similar to these South African coupes.

Jim.
