December 27, 200321 yr comment_62000 Is that your old ITS car Rusty, or is that another car altogether? Wish I had the money and room in my garage for it.... I still have Russ Thomas' old car sitting in my shop waiting for me to do something with it.... :disappoin Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9469-1971-240z-for-sale-track-ready-no-rust/#findComment-62000 Share on other sites
December 27, 200321 yr Author comment_62025 No, this is a dedicated street car that I bought in GA back in '96 and drove home. PO was an engineer at GT; he had installed the L28 with goodies and the Wilwood brake kit from AZ Z-Car.I then added coilovers and Tokicos, upgraded the ignition and swapped in the R200. Took it to a test day once where I discovered that its Centerforce clutch was a POS. Wayne saw it there.Claude Saffer and I ran the car in the Jefferson 500 two years ago, its only "competition." We ended up swapping the rear calipers for a different set to give the braking more balance. Otherwise, we just drove the car and had a blast! Both my ITS cars are in new homes and still actively campaigned. The first #91 is in MA, and I just sold the second one to Bob Pharr in NC. Bob did a shakedown at Kershaw and is now getting ready for the '04 SCCA season. Will post some pics in the gallery soon. Russ Thomas was a fine racer and a good guy. His last podium finish was my first. Like most shrinks, he had a sharp wit. December 28, 200321 yr comment_62140 I'm curious. I was looking at your pics. How do you operate the chokes with 3 seperate cables? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9469-1971-240z-for-sale-track-ready-no-rust/#findComment-62140 Share on other sites
December 28, 200321 yr comment_62141 That's why there is a passenger seat.....steve77 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9469-1971-240z-for-sale-track-ready-no-rust/#findComment-62141 Share on other sites
December 28, 200321 yr Author comment_62143 If you look in the gallery you will see that there is no passenger seat currently in the car. PO [1984-96] managed to stuff a 3rd cable into the housing at the base of the choke lever. I haven't looked to see whether he modified it in some way or not. On Webers, it's more a one-shot enrichment device than an actual blockage of the venturi. I never use it.Repeated stomps on gas pedal work OK with the gear reduction starter cranking away. December 28, 200321 yr comment_62148 Rusty, can you elaborate on the photo of the fuel tank you recently uploaded? You also list the car as having a "cell". I am very curious what you have done to the tank. If I have missed a conversation that has already transpired, just point me there...steve77 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9469-1971-240z-for-sale-track-ready-no-rust/#findComment-62148 Share on other sites
December 29, 200321 yr Author comment_62151 Sent a clean tank to Fuel Safe in Bend OR. They filled it with a cell and attached AN fittings to every original orifice. Should support any number of FI setups...There's also a fuel level sender with instructions on how to calibrate. March 4, 200421 yr Author comment_71218 New price: $8,000, including the chance to load up on a decade's worth of Z spares in my barn. Now, who's got an IRS refund check burning up his pocket?Web page has also been updated to remove possible confusion. It used to be titled "ITS 240Z for sale", a leftover from my previous Z that was sold last fall. March 5, 200421 yr comment_71245 I don't know what I'd do if I ever got a refund check big enough to buy another car.....:cross-eye :disappoin Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9469-1971-240z-for-sale-track-ready-no-rust/#findComment-71245 Share on other sites
March 5, 200421 yr comment_71331 If you are getting a refund check anywhere near that big, you need to get a new accountant IMMEDIATELY.What a pretty car. I looked at it pretty hard back when I was shopping. Now I have pretty close to that in my project and it barely rolls! Definitely cheaper to buy them done.steve Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9469-1971-240z-for-sale-track-ready-no-rust/#findComment-71331 Share on other sites
