Posted December 27, 200321 yr comment_62043 Sometime ago I have had my original clock rebuilt with a quartz unit. It work fine for some months. It has stopped working and sometimes it works for a day or so. What can I do to check it and fix the problem? December 27, 200321 yr comment_62059 Well, with the '72 240Z factory restored car I have the clock runs on a regular battery. I believe it's the same size that goes in a remote for a TV. December 27, 200321 yr comment_62063 If the clock now runs on a battery, you should be able to disassemble it and replace the innerds (a technical term ) as there isn't much to a quartz clock movement that runs on batteries. If the clock was converted using the innerds from a 280Z clock inside the 240Z housing, your options would be to convert it to a battery quartz movement, or have someone try to fix it. There was a guy fixing 280Z clocks that advertized on the internet, but I can't find his web address. Sorry. December 28, 200321 yr comment_62087 richard1If you need to do it yourself its dead easy, I used a scrap unit from a clock that I had lying around or you can buy for a few $ a quartz movement that will fit inside the shell (most are of a standard size) with the correct spindle shaft size for the hands of your existing clock. I have done it with mine and it looks stock. For power I put in (still plenty of room) a small voltage regulator from 12v down to 1.5 v available from most electrical projects stores --radio shack etc then put the original tails on and hey presto. Alternatively just extend out the battery leads into your glove box so that if you do need to change that battery (once a year) its v easy.
