the 1969 is number 2098 and is in good condition, i will be taking pictures of both of them soon to post for everyone to look at, the other one is a great one for parts, the 1969 is a perfect one that i started to restore but ended up stopping and is in need of someone to start it up again to get it back to its original look

Maybe they are talking about '69 being the production date. The serial number would then correct for a '70.

According to www.Zhome.com "Classic Z Car Register" there were only 500 US market 240Z "manufactured" in 1969, then 16,215 US market 240Z's "manufactured" in 1970. A 240Z with SN# 2098 would have been "manufactured" somewhere in the late January to March 1970 timeframe. Most likely didn't hit our shores until late February at the earliest.

Not trying to "dis" the car or seller, just commenting on the seeming discrepancy to published data concerning production date.

Remember kats posted this picture of production summaries by year? If I read this correctly, it says 683 S30's were manufactured in 1969 - 41 PS30's, and 438 HS30's. If there is a higher serial number with a 1969 manufacture date on the ID tag, I want to see a picture!!!!

Let's not confuse the issue with model years and production dates - please. I get so frustrated when someone asks why their car registration says one year and the date stamp says another.

We all know that records do not exist to answer some of our particular questions. After all, we are talking about 30 year old used cars!

If the 2098 serial number (HLS30-02098) has a production tag of 1969, I would love to see a picture of this unique piece of Datsun history.

i am sorry for all the confusion about the dates and numbers, i am trying to get interest for these cars for my father who owns them, i am only 20 and do not know all the information aout them, he is not very good with internet and i told him i would find some poeple that would probably want or know someone who wants the cars. one of the cars is 2098 however from reading waht you guys put it must be a 70 but made in 69, and the other one which is the nicer one is in the 14 thousands i think. i will go over it with him when he returns from work and try and have the right details for the cars, i was jus tryin to get ahold of some people that knnow these cars cause doesnt have alot of time to do it himself, i will also get some pictures soon, if anyone can help me then it would be greatly appreciated

Brooke:

Do reply or send a PM indicated where in NJ you reside. I live in Northern NJ and would consider a ride down. Another member on the board also lives near me and may choose to come for the ride also.

Give some though to what 'price' your father would desire, or, if he is more motivated to send it to a proper home. If there's anything most members of this board can offer, it is a good home and new life.
